I believe that policemen have a very difficult, and thankless, job. It seems so often, here in Chicago, that officers are getting shot and killed. A couple of weeks ago an officer was the target of a robbery, and he was shot and killed by his own gun. I believe he was off duty at the time.
same in detroit....on top of that, they are like the least paid cops in the nation. if i had to work for detroit, i''d have to be crooked for sure, lol.
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

I think most are good people who went into law enforcement because they want to do some good. But I've lived in a lot of different places over the years, and realize that the culture and politics and frequency & types of crimes that occur in any given area can skew things in any direction. A highway patrolman in Mississippi may be a cowboy who likes to f*ck with people, but is mostly harmless - unless you piss him off. A cop in New Olreans works in a political and racial clusterf*ck of an atmosphere, and there is no escaping that influence - you don't mess with ANY cop in NOLA. A Cop in a regular medium or small sized city probably has a lot less crap to cut through every day, and most likely does his job as he should without much trouble. Its a mostly straightforward job, and a mostly straightforward police force I would tink. I think its reasonable to assume they are mostly good guys, but always be aware of how the social and political environments influence their way of thinking, their way of approaching an issue, and of course their behaviour. That said, I also think the person being approached by a police officer has a big influence on what the outcome will be. Don't do stupid shit, don't be in places where there is trouble, and don't be a jerk if a cop approaches you. If you do those things, you'll probably not have many problems.
Well with all the respect I have, here in the province of communist Quebec, if you want to be a cop you must be a nerd, have a high school average of A+, 20/20 vision, be an asshole, go to college for 3 years, then 1 year at the academy then you go to the force.
So years ago we had mean bad and strong officers, now we have 5'1'' 95lbs female officers , but hey thats PC!
Oh and if you are not white, arab, chinese or black no need to go to college of finish high school, they hire you without all the prerequisits!
I think when the bad ones surface they taint all of them.I know a few cops that do the jobs as it is meant to be done and I know more that are bigger criminals than the people they are trying to bust. Law Enforcement people tend to have loopholes that don't apply to the rest of us. Case in point, off duty cop cop runs into a street sweeper flees the scene, state patrol give him a ticket for rckless driving. The regular police give him a breath test(this is after he pisses in the back of a cop car)and he blows .12 and try can't charge him because of some B.S. law that cops can't self incriminate themselves.
