I'm very concerned. My daughter went swimming at my mother inlaws swimming pool 2 days ago. Today is be day 3 after swimming. I've noticed before, that she swims underwater with her mouth open sometimes. She's been told not to do that.
So. She got back from grandma's house and went right to sleep. Then she said she wasn't feeling well, and was running a very low fever, hovered around 99.6(give or take a few tenths) for a couple days, until this morning. She not running a fever, at all, this morning. I filled her script for ********* yesterday, so we started that. I'm getting worried because she's full of energy all the time. Full throttle or sleeping. dodging every nap she can. She's just laid around, and been lethargic for the last 2 days. Today she can't even take her antibiotics, and I'm having to make her drink some fluids. She hasn't actually been sick yet, but I don't want her to have an empty stomach if she does. Her remembering how terrible that once was is what has given her the drive to down some Gatorade.
I have a cousin that services swimming pools. He's going by to check the pool right now. He's the reason I learned that she was drinking the pool water. He asked me if that's what she had done. He informed me that that will make someone very ill. I'm hoping we don't have a hospital visit on the horizon for this.
That child had only been sick 3 times in her life until last year.(She's 5yrs old) She came down with something, running a fever over 100-101+ about 2 months ago. I took her to the Dr, got her meds, and she got better. This has happened a few times where she gets ill after going to grandmas and swimming in the pool.
Well, I just got off the phone trying to find out some more info on what I feel is the issue. Swallowing pool water can be very bad. Especially if the company that takes care of that pool is reckless in cleaning and opening it to let people swim before it's ready.
So, anyone ever had their child get sick after swimming, and swallowing, swimming pool water?
