The 5.0 is back!

Well, sorta. It is a 5.0L 302c.i., but it ain't the 5.0 of the past by any other means. The Mustang has been getting better and better over the last 2 in-a-half decades. The modular motor was a giant leap in the powerplant dept. The 4.6L has been a fast revving, hard pulling engine that loves to belt out those Mustang tunes from the engine at higher RPMs than the old 5.0L. The 4.6L grew quickly on people like myself, that just couldn't warm up to it, until I did my homework, went out and bought one, and took it to the drag strip every week. If you couldn't warm up to the 4.6L, you can't warm up to better performance. But, the iconic Mustang GT has always sported a 5-liter under the hood. At least, from the birth in 1964 to 1995. It was the "5.0" that made it the 'biggest bang for your buck'. The 4.6 has lived up to that very cliche as well, but for those of us that wouldn't mind seeing the 5.0 badge back on the fenders. That time has arrived. Almost. The 2011 Mustang GT will have the 5.0 302ci powerplant. It will grace you with 412hp at 6500 RPM and 390ft.lbs. uh-hm...yez'r

I grew up around mustangs but never had anything other than the 5.0. I had an 89 GT and a 95 Cobra. My plans are to get in a 2003 Cobra in the next year or so, but we will see. Only 412hp? Don't their new v6's have 390?

i love mustangs!!!! i've had '96 cobra mysic, '97 cobra, '04 gt, 04 gt convertable and now a '05 gt.

my '05 gt is my favorite by far but the '11 looks bad ass.

They are sick for sure, even the V6s have more power and speed than the GTs of the 90's

Okay. That sounds more like it. I really like the mustangs too. It is hard to beat the sounds of exhaust on a mustang.

yeah. Somebody was mentioning, to me about the econostang pushing 300hp, and I had to check out the GT. And they have a GT for 2011! Always have.
Force feed that pony and you could have it eating Shellby's GT500s. and the ole dude that owns it. Dump a 250 shot with it.

I grew up around mustangs but never had anything other than the 5.0. I had an 89 GT and a 95 Cobra. My plans are to get in a 2003 Cobra in the next year or so, but we will see. Only 412hp? Don't their new v6's have 390?

It's the 2003 Cobra that has 390hp. Right there with the 2011 GT. GT has no bolt ons. no forced induction.

I drove one 2 weeks ago in Dearborn, and got to beat the snot out of it--It was very badass--fastest naturally aspirated Mustang I've ever driven--very cool

I saw the new f-150 svt at a dealership today. It's the new version of the lightning they made a few years back. It has a supercharged 6.2L. That thing will fly!!

the '11 gt is only .02 slower 0-60 then the '10 shelby going by motortrend and it covers the 1/4 in 12.8. i want one so bad, lol.

my girl is pissed cuz we just bought the '05 and i want the '11 now. i don't think the '11 will be any cheaper used though due to the demand, but '05-'10 will jump down is price for sure.

oh, if you guys get one, you have to get it with the mach 1000 ('02-'04) or shaker 1000 (05-to new) stereo... it's the best stock radio i've ever heard!

That's what my gears started turnin on immediately...'when can I snag 1 up?'...oooowheee...That muthahsnatcher'll be putting some decent numbners down at the track. high 12s off the showroom floor!..open it up so it can breath, i.e. cold-air-intake and exhaust. Gear it a little better, and with just those easy little inexpensive bolt ons, I bet it'd show you a high 11. mm,hm. Then spray that cold stuff at about a 250hp shot, and it might get ridiculous. Those are all very affordable mods too.
Unreal!!! have a Mustang GT scoot'n down the track in under 12 seconds with just a gear adjustment and X-pipe.
I want one too.

5.0 is all good. But from what I've recently read in a Car and Driver mag about the new Chevy Camaro, the Camaro whipped it in the test run.
