Wow!! Do you have any pics? My buddy goes to a place and shoots at 400 yards....mainly because that's all he has right now. But 1000 would be great!

Here's a pic of my 308 before I put the scope on it. I'm in the process of building an AR upper with a 9" barrell and suppressor in 300 whisper caliber right now.
Man I knew it ! Now you making me want one even worse. I've been told, I'll never want another gun after that one
It's a damn good shooting gun but gets a little costly, especially since its hard to keep from ripping thru a clip in several seconds. Therefore, I bought the new XDM 9mm but haven't been able to shoot it yet. I shot the XD model a couple years ago and remember having a tough decision to make between it and my USP. Different calibers of course and the .45 was what I was shopping for. Trust me though, you will love the USP as it is a great gun.

I do not condone the use of, nor do I use anabolic or androgenic steroids. My participation on these boards is for informational purposes only. I have done extensive research of AAS and enjoy discussing them for role playing enjoyment.

You don't have to pay a thousand bucks for a great gun. In fact, there are guns for less than half that price that function without flaw. Excellent shooters, that fire any round for under $400.
A good rule of thumb I've found that works great for me. I'll never purchase a gun that requires 'so many' rounds for "break-in" before it's fully dependable. As in, it won't function up to it's expected level of quality until...say 500rds. That's absolute bs IMO. There are many great firearms that fire any round, without fail from the 1st round on. Yes, all guns do break-in, but if it's normal to have malfunctions throughout the break-in, I have no place for it. There are too many out there that function without fail right out of the box. If a manufacturer calls for a break-in period. My advice is to pass on that make. The dealer should be able to tell you which guns require break-in periods. If not, the manual will have a statement about the break-in period. If you hear or see that's a requirement of the gun. What I do is hand that one back. No FTF, FTE, etc etc...just because it hasn't spit 500rds of it's 'favorite ammo'. No thanks. Which leads me to another issue with some manufacturers. No ammo picky guns in my collection. Again, there are too many out there that eat anything you feed 'em.
the firing a couple hundred rounds of your intended defense ammo is not for breaking in the gun, but to insure there are no failures when your life is on the line. What if you fired 20 rounds through a gun and never had a failure then when you need it most it fails? Every tactical defense instructor I have ever talked to recommends this. When you are playing with your life you want to take out every variable possible. Now as for firing rounds through a match grade rifle barrell, there are greatly varying opinions on if this is necessary or not for accuracy. This doensn't matter on a standard production gun though.

I must not have been clear.
I think anyone that knows my style with firearms, and if you have read some of my posts, you'll see I'm all about firing as many rounds as you can. "practice practice, practice"...as I always say. Get to know your weapon well. Especially your choice self defense firearm. Of course you'll need to poratice often. Go through many rounds...try to reach muscle memory with it as if it's an extension of your arm. Second nature.
What I meant by recommending to steer clear of firearms that require a "break-in period" before they're expected to function without fail is just that. A firearm that requires "breaking-in" before it's dependable is garbage IMO. I don't care if it's a $150 gun, or a $1000 piece. If it won't fire rounds without jamming out of the box, move on. If it requires a certain ammo to function properly. move on. That's just my opinion. Of course all firearms break-in over the first few hundred rounds, but there are too many makes that manufacture firearms that operate without fail right from the 1st round on. That's a dependable firearm. With those dependable firearms available, why mess with one that isn't expected to function properly out of the box?..or a gun that "prefers such&such ammo"...I will not purchase, and definitely won't put my life in the hands of an ammo picky firearm that isn't built correctly from the factory. know what I mean?
Buy a dependable firearm with a reputation for functioning without fail right out of the box, and that will fire any ammo you want to shoot. Then take it out ad make a bunch of noise with it often.
Bottom line- if you buy a good quality firearm- this should not be a problem. I have yet to even run into problem with Tarus. If your buying off name cheap chinese imports, then I would say there is reason for concern, but ask yourself what is my and my families life worth? Then pick your weapon
Deep South, I love my taurus millenium pro 45. Its very compact and concealable. I own a 9mm but I just can't bring myself to carrying it, I don't wanna be like those NATO queers. lol I hate serving with those guys.

The UN guys are worse then the NATO ones. Everyone rags on them in camp. Its hard to look tough wearing a baby blue uniform lol. I look for us to go to a 6.8 in the future, the 5.56 is good at medium ranges but get out to 3-400 yards and it doesn't have the knock down power on a hadji it needs. He can run off wounded if not hit in a vital.
