  • Friends working for friends? Bad combo

She has been working for me part time for about 3 months. Half the time she didnt come to work for an assortment of reasons:No baby sitter, sick, no baby sitter, sick..on and on...I tried to tell her several times that maybe this isnt working out, but she persisted. Im so relieved that today she didnt even show up for work. No phone call. Nothing. You dont really know a person until you see them every day. I had no idea how much drama she had going on in her life. She has loads of anger inside her. The deal breaker was last week when I got up to give a talk at this event, I started off by making some jokes and I saw her in the back giving me the knife across the throat sign. Ive been wanting to fire her ever since that show of disrespect. Well, Im so glad that she has fired herself and I didnt have to..LOL...Thats one less stressful thing I have to deal with in life...I will confess that we did make out several times and damn near started fuc king one day until my brain kicked in and I said STOP! LOL...anyone else ever had a problem like that?

Just a bad idea all the way around. Personally, I talk to my friends and family about banking needs, IRA's, Mortgages, home equities, etc.... But if they need stuff like that, I refer them to other people. I will no work with family or friends.

i've worked with friends, but it's different in my biz. you tend not to be friends too fast becouse of turn over, so the ones that stick around are thick skinned and can take you yelling at them when you become the boss. then, as i went to other dealers, i took my crew with me...all concidered friends!! all wishing i'd land somewhere so we can get the team back together, lol

Thanks everybody. I think youre all correct. It is not a wise move. Hard to maintain respect over time. There are no defined roles. That was TMI about our amorous encounters. lol...That was just bound to happen. But Being around her everyday made me realize she is definitely NOT a chick I would want to get involved with that way. I put a stop to that shit real quick.

It was really a charity hire. I felt sorry for her and knew she was in a bad way financially, so I let her come to work for me for a couple weeks, just to help her make a few bucks. It became 3 months and I started feeling like she was taking advantage. She started smartin off a lot and dressing too casually. Always talking shit about her ex husband and ex boyfriend. Well, you know what that always leads to? She will be talking shit about the next guy and it aint gonna be me.

Yeah man, not a good idea. I do consider myself pretty lucky that my wife and I work together with no problems. Aside from her though, it's not generally a good idea. Friends tend to take advantage of the relationship and then you've got jealousy issues from other staff to boot.
