I could easily expand on that, especially those drug reps that offer free benefits to Drs who prescribe their drugs. Like free trips to hawaii if you prescribe x amount of cymbalta, cellebrex etc...

HOW DO SOME INSURANCE ADJUSTERS SLEEP AT NIGHT? When an adjuster denies a vital procedure a cancer patient desperately needs, his boss gives him a pat on the back and probably a bonus check. Oftentimes, the adjusters favorite trick is the old "pre-existing condition"..."we wont cover you for this back injury because you went to a massage therapist one time 5 years ago for a back ache."...

            Insurance sucks!! Try being self-employed!

I don't think you want to get me started.... let's just say my hormones (HRT) isn't on their prefer list. It's not like they can tell my body which HRT is going to work or not. I had a total hysterectomy. It's not like I have a choice in this matter.

Your insurance company is right on this one. Prilosec is Omeprazole made by Astra Zenica. It wasn't until prilosec came off patten that they conveniently invented the "sister drug" Nexium Esomeprazole. If you read the package insert, you would see that they have very similar half lives. I can only think that the problem is dose related. You might have been prescribed a higher dose of the Nexium? If you respond to one and not the other at the same dose you are in a 1/100th of 1% category. I too take a proton pump inhibitor and have tried Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid... Check the dose on your script and see. If it's a higher amount on the nexium, that will explain it. If not, you might want to try what I do, I have the doc write a script for 2X a day and explain to him that I only usually take 1 a day but need a second dose if i'm going to be eating fatty foods. It will also help by reducing the amount of co pays that you'll lay out Let me know, I'm curious.
