  • Workout partner

Does anyone here workout with their spouse, significant other, or a friend? I have been working out with Fuzo for the last month and I workout much harder than I do alone.

Are you kidding my wife would be a complete c0ckblock at the gym!!!

No, I am actually looking forward to that when my kids get a little older and we can hit the gym together.

worked out with a buddy of mine for years. he was more into the socializing than pushing hard. Since i had children, we do not hook up any more and my workouts are great. Need a spot...ask a buddy in the gym

I love workin out with a chick. I remember Joe Weider used to say that working out with a woman increases testosterone flow. Joe was right!...Ive been trainin alone lately, but my last contest I trained with a girl every morning at 6. She was the hardest trainin chick I ever knew. Oh, and the fact that she was beautiful made it easy to climb outta bed at 530. lol

I generally use a spot with whoever is in the gym at the time. My gym only has about 60 members, so we pretty much know each other. $hit, I grew up with 20 out of the 60!

when i was at powerhouse, thats how alot of us did it...it's still diff to have some one there throught the workout with you...it's also cool if your partners a little bigger than you. fuzo's gotta be around 230, so he pushed me pretty hard to keep up with him!! (he claims 205 or sum shyt...his scales broke)

                        Re: Workout partner

Can't seem to keep a workout partner very long. Guess I expect to much out of them.
I have, however had a workout partner now for about 12 weeks. He works for our Sheriff's Dept and wants to gain some muscle mass and strength to try out for the S.W.A.T team. So I have pushed him and he has stuck with the workout.
It has been a benifit for me also. Just don't know how much longer he will be my partner.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!

Hang on to that dude. In a few years, he will be able to get the best stuff out there when he goes on raids!!

                              Re: Workout partner

I've been on every side of this fence.

My best workouts are with a significant other who isn't totally significant yet.
I was seeing a woman and had the most intense workouts with her because I'll be damned if I'm gonna punk out!
She was great personal trainer as well but it was more to keep pushing because she was there.

The next best was with a male workout partner for a period of time.
You always push each other for a while - then it seems it turns into social time after a while.

I had one steady partner and others who would float in and out for years.
It wasn't until I started working out alone that I realized how stagnant we got.
Still had some phenomenal workouts with him and the group but sometimes it's just oo much trouble if a couple of the guys want to chat and you really want to hit it hard.
And waiting for them if they're late or don't show - - too much BS

Working out with my wife - - sucks.
She'll try to push but needs constant pushing and instruction on the simplest sh!t. And she has no passion for it.
The only reason she even steps into a gym is to avoid looking like her very round mother.
As long as she feels she's "OK" then she has no desire to go the the gym.
It isn't to excel or be the best she can be - it's simply to not be "too" fat.
So I train her and put in a couple of screw off sets - when and if we hit the gym together.

Now I just workout by myself and aside from the fact that I haven't been as regular with my workouts as I'd like I much prefer it this way.
No worries about changing and exercise if the "guys" want to switch from squats, etc.

I can do 15 sets of deads if I want - I set the pace and the routine.
If' I'm feeling it on a particular day to hit a movement 2 or 3 times more than normal - I"ll do it.

Just more in tune with my own workout.
Of course I train by feel and instinct so it can change from set to set.
