I think someone mentioned that SILVER would not show scratches as much either.
I would assume that's correct but don't know.

I'm happy with either color and it seems from talking to a few differnt folks that there may actually be less of the Silver ones running around so that's always a nice thing too.

Does anyone have good insight on protective gear?
Where to go or brands to use?

IVE GOT JOE ROCKET JACKETS AND GLOVES...SHOEI HELMET....AND ICON STANDARD DUTY BOOTS (I LIKE THESE BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE NORMAL BOOTS BUT ALSO HAVE ANKLE PROTECTION AS WELL)

WHATEVER GEAR YOU DECIDE....GO TO A LOCAL SHOP AND TRY IT ON...THEN HIT EBAY AND YOU WILL SAVE TONS OF MONEY

Yeah - thanks buddy. Show me something that looks great that I can't get!! LOL!

Actually the only color available was silver - it's an 08 and there we only a few left when I talked to my guy the first time unless he was going to do a dealer trade. When I went back 2 weeks later cause I was out of town working he didn't even know if there were any left or so he said.
It did take him a couple of days to get back with me on it but who knows.
He even brought another midnight blue one in while I was out and it sold before I got back in town. I saw it in the back with all the customers paperwork and he's never told me bullsh!t before so I imagine the color choice was what it is.

And yeah - the blue looks great FUZO!

That is so true. Black is the sweetest clean, but ain't clean long.

And true what you said Sal about silver not showing blemishes or dirt. Silver always looks clean. I fell for the silver R6 the moment I saw it online when the '08 models were displayed. It's like a brighter, platinum, metallic. And silver is unique, as you mentioned. There aren't many solid silver production bikes out there.

That was something too. I had just looked at the new pearl white CBR, and it was steady tuggin on me. I was falling for it more and more by the minute. So I pm 02 and tell him about it. He replies back with links to his new white CBR. So evidently, he was with it too.

I went to a large shop tonight and looked at a few differnt things and came away with a decent idea for a jacket (an ICON brand??) but the 2XL was a bit tight under the right arm and the 3XL was way too loose in the lower back and waist.
I tried a Scorpion helmet that I tried fit really well - I wanted to check on some pants I'll check when I have bit more time.
They were closing in an hour so I just did the look through.

This is the helmet that really, really had me wanting it.

Some people may think I'm nuts but I LOVE that color. It goes well with a black jacet as well.
I thought about getting a silver color to match the bike but I really dig the neon yellow. Go figure

I did check on their prices for the ZX14 that I bought the other day and they have a used Silver 08 with 1000 miles on it for MORE than I just paid for mine (still in shipping crate)
They had "NEW" ones for almost 1500$ more than I paid.
I felt good about that.

I don't know if this is your first bike, or how much racing you've watched, but it sounds like plenty. And if not, what a breath of fresh air. For some reason, when someone gets their first bike, they get a matching helmet. Which there's nothing wrong with that, but helmets are done up in a way for individuality and personality. The helmet is based on your individual like. without color coordination in mind. I mean, It's not dress socks. Of course, there is gear you wanna match up...pretty much most of it, but the helmet is whatever fits your personality or like. Your helmet is a whole separate entity. If you dig it. Get it. But like I said, those that do color coordinate the helmet with bike. I'm not knockin that.

For some reason, everytime I get a helmet, I want a different one.

Sounds like there's no need for buyer's remorse on the deal. That's always a good thing!

it"s in!!!
i signed all the paperwork etc. today.
it was too cold to bring it home so its camped out there for now

AND.......... it looks even better than the pics!!!
it"s amazing.
the wife bought me a decent HJC helmet - not top off the line but something to put on when i ride for now .
It's yellow, silver and black.
A kickarse black JoeRocket leather jacket and some sweet yellow silver and black JoeRocket gloves
she insisted i try to match a bit - even if the yellow is tiny bit different on the helmet and gloves! LOL!!!!
