A free market does not condone fraud. Fraud was rampant because the government created an environment where it could be (e.g. the community reinvestment acts) and when the government doesn't prosecute fraud, they might as well be condoning it but then they would have to acknowledge government intervention was the cause - which would result in politicians having less power.

Deregulation was not the problem - the problem was it wasn't done soon enough to prevent the results of government regulations initiated decades ago.

But isn't that what was done the last 8 years? The Bush administration let the markets run ramped to do as they please, in the name of free market. That's what got us to where we are today.

Mind giving some examples of things that have not worked the last 8 years that we can change that would help us get out of this mess?

Bush was NOT a proponent of the free market...he may have ran on that idealogy but his practices were not that of the free market principle.

I have never heard of something so stupid as to borrow, borrow, borrow, when you are in the RED. You don't BORROW you're way out of debt with a broken system.

Yes you can BORROW you're way out of debt if the system is fixed but the system isn't fixed. Tell me Fit how or what has been done differntly that continually borrowing money is going to fix this?

You seem hell bent on taking money, taking money, and taking MORE money on a system that is flawed just because there is "HOPE" that it might work.

It didn't work when Bush was in office, it isn't going ot work now. Our whole system is flawed...you can't run an economy that runs a deficit and then borrow more money and just all of sudden expect things to just magically fix themselves.

Tell me Fit since you want so many answers on WHY you think this will work now when it hasn't worked before. What's different? Other than the President which really doesn't mean shit...the system is still the same as it was before.

Private companies! When a private company doesn't have the option of passing their bad assets and bad decisions on to the taxpayers back - they would be more prudent and instead of a loan processor loaning millions of dollars in questionable loans, they get caught after a couple because it's effecting the companies bottom line.

I dont think anyone is garanteeing that 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 million jobs will be created. I do know that we're (in the Messiah's own words) 'living in extraordinary times that call for extraordinary measures' Obama is betting his presidency on this Bill. If it fails, its his ass and everyone that followed. If it doesn't fail (I'm hopeful and confident that it wont), this will be a great time in American history.

When this fails - liberals (progressives, socialists, statist, communist, etc.) won't be enlightened; they won't admit or even learn a damn thing. It will automatically be "we didn't do enough" and we didn't do it "fast enough". In societies that are fundamentally tied to the idea of the citizens sacrifice - the sacrifice is never enough and when something fails they use that as justification for more sacrifice, not less! Of course, those in power are never expected to sacrifice a damn thing.
