I was referencing liberties and rights as a citizen of the USA.

I'm tired of hearing retards in my area saying auto workers make too much money......blow me, i thot this was America. Most retards don't know that toyota's upper end line workers make more than the big three's workers do AND only 10% of a manufactured vehicle is from direct labor. .....thank you i feel better now

                doink,

                what is the breakdown?

10% makes sense to me, most folks do not understand the cost of a mfg facility, the cost to maintain mfg assembly lines, steel, rubber etc.

in mfg, raw fixed costs are very high

I'd be hard pressed to get it all right but we have like 240 some suppliers alone and they have suppliers and all they way down to the damn electric bill. there isn't alot of waste believe it or not, nor as much down time, which runs the bills up. There's the prob with greed at the top which takes it's chunk, somebody up there is makin the dough, a hood costs about 42.00 to make and is sold for around 1400.00. That tell ya anything?. It's a mess and it can be fixed, i'm just tired of dum****es not knowing waht they are talking about, they seem to learn a little from a newscast and know just enuff to sound like a horses butt.

well, i understand the hood issue

that is a parts supplier though, i can see it might cost 42 too make, yet, there might be 2 or 300 in fixed cost, making a total cost of 350 for the hood, so they list it for 1400, probably really sell it for

it is not uncommon for a mfg to make something and then sell it too a dealer for ten times the price

in my const biz, home office would make something for 2 bucks, sell it too me for 20, if someone came by like a hospital worker and bought it as a raw replacement part, i'd sell it for 45

now, if i had a const. project, that 2 dollar part would be installed and warranted for 250 bucks, for most that would seem high and outrageous, yet, my costs would be such

                      part, 20
                      copper tubing, 25
nuts and bolts and such, 5
                      labor.....3 hours........., 120
                      warranty.................., 7
                      my time..................., 10
                      engineer's time.........., 10
                      overhead................., 20
                      office, electricity, coppiers, etc.

                      total cost 217

                      contract for 290 a 35% mark-up

now imagine you got 100 to install

                      that is a a 30k job

and you got ten of these jobs

now, you got all kinds of scheduling problems up the wazoooooooo, general contractors not paying me on time............folks saying job will take six months and it takes nine months, yada yada yada

lol, i left 8 years ago, went out on my own

const. is like all business's good if you know what u r doing

it all boils down too two things

                          a. the commitment to the excellence of estimates on a job

                          b. labor management day in and day out

if u lose money on a construction job, u miscalculated costs, ur fault, or let labor run amok, ur fault

good news is in you run 30 jobs a year, u have a chance to right the wrongs, and the quicker the better

why i left, no commitment to excellence by my peers, i'd had enough
