Gift certificates are nothing new this holiday season, but what if you can get one for an abortion?

For the first time, Planned Parenthood in Indiana is offering gift cards in $25 increments.

Officials say the growing number of unemployed and uninsured residents prompted the decision.

The cards can be used for any service -- ranging from examinations, birth control, STD testing and even abortions.

"People are making really tough decisions about putting gas in their car and food on their table, so we know that many women especially put health care at the bottom of their list to do," said Chrystal Struben-Hall, vice president of Planned Parenthood of Indiana.

Officials with Planned Parenthood stress that even though the cards can be used toward abortions, that's not their purpose.

I love it!
Not necessarily for the "abortion" part - that doens't bother me either.
That's just media crap trying to creat a stir and get a reaction.
What about the other uses like exams and birth control.

Those are REALLY, REALLY GOOD ideas.

Besides, its a pretty well known fact that a person wanting to get an abortion will do so regardless of whether or not they can get an full care hospital to do it.
So the abortion side of the story really has little to do with the big picture but it does get reaction as the media hopes it will do.

SHOCK VALUE!!! That's about all the media is good for these days.

Sad but true.

Thanks quirky, it's nice to talk with someone who can lok at both sides of the picture even if they disagree with whats painted.

I would like to see the same story printed differently with the same information, with a different headline and get a public opinion.
It won't happen but just think if the headline had read:

"Planned Parenthood offereing gift card so expecting mothers can get pre-natal vitamins, examinations, check ups and even birth control if needed."


I wonder how the story would have been preceived then.

^Mine is too - no worries - darn fat fingers! Lol! As for the other aspect of it - if it is indeed used for prenatal care, vitamins, dr visits, ie, then that is wonderful. They should not be allowed to use them for abortions.
