OK.. My GF is a nurse and I just asked her if adderall is alright to take when pregnant. Her response..."HELL NO".
It is a category C pregnancy classification drug which means "only medically neccessary."

FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. It could also cause premature birth, low birth weight, or withdrawal symptoms in a newborn if the mother takes Adderall during pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Adderall can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use Adderall without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Long-term use of Adderall can slow a child's growth. Tell your doctor if the child using Adderall is not growing or gaining weight properly.

And just remember also that any drug that effects the person also effects the baby the same way.. Adderall is basically a methamphetamine. And we all know what the hell that does to people.

sw, you have every right to "get your point across" any way you feel necessary. She obviously misunderstood at first, so make it straight forward and simple. mm mm mm...I hope it works out for the good.
I used the aderrall XR package insert because its the newest. Same drug as adderall with a delayed release but newer studies from the insert. Good luck!
8 USE IN SPECIFIC POPULATIONS
8.1 Pregnancy
Animal reproduction studies of lisdexamfetamine dimesylate have not been
performed. Studies have been performed with the active metabolite of
lisdexamfetamine, d-amphetamine, either alone or in combination with
l-amphetamine, as noted below.
Teratogenic Effects
Pregnancy Category C
Amphetamine (d- to l-enantiomer ratio of 3:1) had no apparent effects on embryofetal
morphological development or survival when orally administered to pregnant
rats and rabbits throughout the period of organogenesis at doses of up to 6 and 16
mg/kg/day, respectively. Fetal malformations and death have been reported in mice
following parenteral administration of d-amphetamine doses of 50 mg/kg/day or
greater to pregnant animals. Administration of these doses was also associated
with severe maternal toxicity.
A number of studies in rodents indicate that prenatal or early postnatal exposure to
amphetamine (d- or d,l-) at doses similar to those used clinically can result in longterm
neurochemical and behavioral alterations. Reported behavioral effects include
learning and memory deficits, altered locomotor activity, and changes in sexual
function.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. There has
been one report of severe congenital bony deformity, tracheo-esophageal fistula,
and anal atresia (vater association) in a baby born to a woman who took dextroamphetamine
sulfate with lovastatin during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Amphetamines should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies
the potential risk to the fetus.

I've heard of woman smoking while they are pregnant, which is totally wrong, but I never heard of a woman taking adderall. I agree that it isn't wise to take the adderall while your pregnant. I would definitely speak with her doctor.

I agree with BoobooKitty, have a talk with her doctor. Hopefully if he has some type of pictures or documentations of what can happen to the baby when she's smoking, she might control her smoking habit. And you should have a talk with her about the trust between you two.

^...Yeah. That whole trust thing is out the window. Fact of the matter is we have had this discussion twice before now and then I find out she's still doing it. She doesn't hear me! Like I said before, she says what she needs to say and nothing changes. My only focus right now is my children!
