Vizio 42" HDTV and love it. The color is great and the size is prefect for our place. It wasn't too expensive... around $800 at Sam's Club

Samsung LCD 47", two HDMI inputs, very key to get the HDMI cables makes a world of diff in picture quality.

HANDS DOWN "Samsung" After much research, they are the best buy and quality.
I bough a 65" DLP and when hooked up to HD tv you can see grain of sand jump up off a catchers mit as he reached up to scoop up the ball at home plate.

The wife and I were watching law and order this week and you could see the peach fuzz on this chicks face.

I think the DLP's have the best picture.

                      Re: BIG SCREEN TV'S

55" LCD Hitachi Ultravision. It had the best picture to comparable TVs when I bought it. I had been eyeing and comparing them for about a year at the big electronic departments before I got it. I love the picture. Friends with big wide screens say that it does seem to have a brighter more vivid picture, and like someone said, you can see the peach fuzz on a baby and pores on people's skin in HD. I swear it's better than your eyes see. There's like 3 times the hi-def channels now compared to a few years ago too. You'll never be able to go back, once you go hi-def. And you can't go wrong with a Sony.

If, or when rather, the lamp goes, make the in-home-service guy show you that he's replacing it with a Philips bulb just as it comes with. It'll say Philips right on the bulb. There's a big difference between the quality of Philips bulbs and whatever else is out there, and they all come with Philips bulbs.
