    yea....i'm good with that.
that, in my opinion, is probobly why atheist feel they get jammed on. alot of people might resent that you use logical reasoning to take that away from them. i dont see the bennifit to you, (not specificly you, but you know what i'm saying), to take that away from anyone. and, if believing in god, leads people to try to act cool to eachother, than whats the harm?
me? i'm cool with atheist, devil worshipers, christians, catholics, buddist, muslim, fuk, you can worship *zeus for all i give a shyt...

*i kinda like the whole greek/roman mythology thing anyway...they got the cool gods!!!

i agree baby1 that it is good for some people to have something to believe in...i believe in love of family and friends and respect for all living creatures....but it disappoints me to hear people say that atheists are bad people because they dont believe in anything...i live by the same fundamentals that christians and most other religions do...being a good person...and you'll find that that is the basis on pretty much every religion...just because i dont believe in a higher power doesnt mean that i dont think all people deserve to be treated well...ya know?

Klash, you know you and I have gone round and round on this topic, to the point where its almost easier to "agree to disagree" but I had to chime in on this one...lol.

I have clearly heard God, I have clearly felt God, I have clearly experienced God so I am very positive in my ability to "defend my belief".

Once again getting back to what you contend is to deny logic, as time progresses more and more scientists are concluding that an intelligent creator is the only 'logical explanation". Of course we have gone through all of this before and we would end up regurgitating a lot of what we have already said but I would argue the other side and say that to look at the data we have today and deny God is to deny logic.

I will agree with you that a lot of people are easily "sold" by the fear of death. These people often end up being the ones those outside the church view as hypocrites. They feel like they have made this profession of faith and now have a form of "death insurance" so they are now free to live how they wish. But there are those that truly have a relationship with God that isn't just a one way street (us being the only ones that give). That two way communication is what has cemented the fact to me that God is real.

Re: why i am an atheist

I find it funny how people refer to the bible as 'the WORD OF GOD"....Yet, we have mormons, protestants, jehovahs witnesses, catholics and about 100,000 other denominations and each one interprets the bible differently and they all think every body else who doesnt believe in their EXACT translation is going to HE LL to rot and burn for all eternity.... come on man....Oh, and if youre an atheist, holy shyt, youre really going to he ll...LOL

Most moderates (to a faith) don't see the benefit to using logic as their standard to life because if they saw the connection between all irrational faiths they wouldn't be theists. But moderates help perpetuate the acceptance and conformity of an irrational belief system that when followed through with by strict followers (extremists) is immoral and/or dangerous to individuals and society.

For example, no matter how hard one tries to defend his belief in god with history and science when it comes down to it, it is a belief system based on nothing other than an individuals "desire to believe", which is expressed, by those who support this belief system with the term "faith" to give it a more positive sound but it would be more accurately defined as psychosis/delusions/irrational/etc. Once this premise is accepted any action can be justified as moral. You don't have to look far to see the consequences. Just ask these questions to a religious group: 1) If science had the ability to let you live a youthful, vigorous life forever, would you do it? Should women have 100% ownership of their own bodies? If science had the ability to design couples offspring, would you have a problem with that? Not to mention the hate groups that are a result of a religious dogma based on faith. What makes their faith inferior or incorrect to moderates. Moderates unintentionally support a belief system that results in bigotry and hate and that is the consequence of trading logic for a psychological pain killer.

******, Charles Manson, David Koresh and countless others would have been irrelevant with out the concept of faith.

I do not deny god, because there is no evidence for a god - thus there is nothing to deny. To be more precise, I don't believe in a god, i.e. anyones god. Theists group themselves up with people who serve a god with the same name. Christians worship the name of Jesus but their ideas of Jesus will take on a wide range of characteristics - they agree on a few character traits but then fill in the gaps with their own imagination with what they think their god should be like, i.e. character traits they value. They agree on the name, Jesus, even though their ideas of Jesus may totally contradict each others.

How is denying god, denying logic? I have seen the religions attempt to offer flawed scientific data to offer proof for god but this is dishonest but also brings up a question. Why are they trying to offer evidence, when the whole Christian religion is based on the premise of faith? So those attempting to offer evidence are actually undermining their religion simply with their attempts; they are implying logic is superior to faith. So which is it? Is logic superior to faith? ...and if your proven wrong about your evidence you will change your position? ...or is faith required for the afterlife, in which logic is not needed, in which those scientist lack of faith is sacrilegious?

I would love to see any logical argument for god but that means one part of your argument can't contradict another part.

I won't deny any logic. I'm curious as to where or what the electricity that operates our minds, memories, hearts, etc...goes or does. It carries information through our minds and bodies. Is it the electricity in our minds that holds and projects information? Does it retain all the information it has gathered during a lifespan once it leaves our bodies? It works wonders while in our body.

Electricity does not end. It does not die. Does it enter one of the huge flux fields of the earth? Does it go farther?

Without that electricity, our body is lifeless.
