The Saudi's are probably saying "we use to up production because we didn't think the libs in your country were so stupid, now we know they won't let you drill your own land even to stop the bleeding; so no we're not going to up production! It's funny watching the American hippies phuck their own people. Oh yeah, make love not war; silly American. Peace."

this is not a question of not enought drilling

it is not a question of india and china, both have set deals for decades of supply at fixed prices and have independent chain of supply.

not a question of more demand than offer

it is because we let speculator in and bring the price up, until the us economy is not doing well and the american dollars is worth a peso they will take refuge in the barrel of oil.

...but those reasons are why speculators are making money. If those reasons were absent oil prices would be not be rising like they are and speculators that bought into oil thinking it would go up, would lose money. Speculators do not create the oil market they measure it and take risk.

the petrol is more abudant now than 30 years ago, we found new reserves
hell 90% of my province is under oil, and this is quebec not alberta

there some opec countries that want to get out of opec because they are tired of being dicted what to do by a guy in a dress.

speculators, but dont worry things will come back to normal but it is in this time we see new breakthrought, new inventions, new engine and all

              a worst for a good i guess

...why do they keep buying into the futures? You think they buy into it because they think future demand will decreasing and/or future supply will increase? [and government intervention will decrease] No, they are working with current trends, demand increasing at a much more rapid pace than supply along with the American government offering resistance to a rational solution.

If American politicians gave the o.k. to drill in Anwar, off the coast and in our national forests and quit threatening windfall profit tax and drop the cap and trade bill (which I think died already). Speculators would have a huge variable to consider and the price of the commodity is estimated to fall almost immediately [according to Heritage Foundation].

Don't fall into the trap of blaming speculators. That's what pro-statists senators want; then they can regulate and control even more of our oil supply. Don't believe me go look at who is trying to place blame on the speculators: George Soros, Ralph Nader, Moveon.org, etc. Not the sharpest tools in the shed.

OK...I SEE YOUR POINT. GOOD POST. BUT...THEY (SPECULATORS) ARE RIDING THE TREND RIGHT NOW AND I DONT SEE ANY VARIABLE COMING ANYTIME REAL SOON TO END IT. I THINK THEIR BETTING ITS GONNA KEEP RISING TO 200 A BARREL AND ARE HEDGING THEIR BETS IN THAT DIRECTION.

                          Re: Phucking Gas prices!!

^I'm sure the speculators are seeing what we are; within the last two weeks our own government is talking about "cap and trade" and "windfall taxes" in this time of great concern. Really all they have to hedge their bets on is if politicians are going to keep doing what they have been - telling us they have a solution, while they make the problem bigger.

                                Re: Phucking Gas prices!!

you start a war, the smart money buys commodities, that's part A, and of course they buy the crap out of em

a war, causes panic, supply demand disruptions, and the fact the warring folks have to have that stuff

now, part B, you get global growth finally coming on board, that took 15 years to finally really get going, berlin wall came down, in 1990, sovits gave up war in afgan in 1990, china after getting trade status from nixon in 74 took 15 years to build a manufacturing base, that started too ramp up beginning in 1990

step 3 is that finally the smart money controls the market, they own 80% of futures contracts going back too 2003, then they start a marketing campaign, note, that have a corner on the market, a crap load of money to support the campaing, and the campaign is fear and greed, no supply no supply

along the way u get as many lucky breaks as bad ones, 05 katrina shut down the gulf, nigeria has rebels going nuts causing all kinds of flack, iraq, well they might as well have shut down there wells, they are producing at 40% of when sudam was in power, then bush decides we will load up the strategic petroleum reserve and we will pay any price, so there buying millions of barrels a day for 28 months

now once the price puts a huge squeeze on people, since they control the market cause they own 80% of shares, they spend 3-12 months selling the stock to the last investors, during that time it is very very very volatile

if it was based on supply demand we'd be about 80 bucks

see, war, what is it good for, high commoditie prices, very high, all u have to do is read a history book, i guess bush and the boys missed that one
