What do you guys think about illegal immigration? Should there be a pathway for citizenship or should they have to wait in line like the rest of the immigrants?

no amnesty- if thats what you mean..i think the process sucks and should be fixed/sped up but they shouldnt get amnesty..no ID cards either!!(candidates@google:ron paul ) -

I think we first need to fix our borders before we go after illegals in this country. For the ones that are already here if they can prove that they have tried to be good citizens then maybe pay back taxes and get them on their way to becoming legal. If they have just been a drain on the system send them back.
My dad went through the process and ended up having to leave and then come back to become citizens so there has to be equal opportunity for all immigrants imoComment

The key word to this is illegal. If you did not come into this country the way perscribed by the laws, you should not be allowed to stay here. If you want to become a citizen of the USA, then follow the steps to become a legal citizen.

Crazy we even bring up the idea to allow people that BREAK the law amnesty which is a free ride after breaking the law.
You set a huge precedent when you allow large groups of people a "free pass" when they knowingly break the law. There is already an existing path for foreign nationals to gain citizenship. I would not grant anyone "amnesty." Illegal aliens need to get visas if they want to stay here. If they have commited crimes or cannot obtain a visa they need to leave immediately. This is how all civilized countries operate.Comment

I'm on the fence cause it is the biggest freaking mess we have on our hands.
A. I live in Texas and we've had em crossing the border since the beginning of time, for the most part it's not a big deal. In essence we are very use to it, my guess is so many folks across the country are experiencing it for first time and is disturbing.
B. We are a Nation of Laws, yet, we have so many friggin of em, who knows which ones are important, if u go by actions as a whole, 80% of laws we could all give two craps about.
C. One of the most valuable things I have in life is my citizenship.
D. Besides my citizenship I also need to respect the rights of my fellow citizens, thus, if they say here is the line, and they are correct within the law, I must align with them, my fellow americans.
All that being said, like I said I think it's a huge friggin mess.
If you listened last year they said, oh we THINK WE HAVE 12-20 million illegals. Over the next 3 months the only number you heard was 12 million. In my gut, I wouldn't be surprised if it's more around 25 million in reality, yeah, typical govt. crap off by multiplies many of em.
Bottom Line is if you want to go into total FINANCIAL DEPRESSION, get rid of em.
We have 5% un-employment, you rid 7 million workers, and we will have labor shortages, leading to higher wages, lower profits, and lower demand for housing, cothes, cars, etc.
Now Part of Me Says, ALWAYS TAKE THE EXACT OPPOSITE POSTION OF SOMETHING TO TRY AND LEARN SOMETHING.
Imagine how courougous you must be to leave your home, travel to where u can't speak the language, are under constant threat of arrest, all to better your life and families.
Liberty says, Give me your tired hungry and weak. Hell, we getting Brave, Hungry and Courageous, And The willingness to work hard. We're getting the Best Mexicans they have.
And so it goes, if I was in charge.
One, I'd build the Fence. Complete it, and then wait a year or two and see what happens. In the mean time, I'd have a mandate, they get arrested, they get deported, within in 3 days, no if and's or buts. Thus, they all know without a doubt, u break the law, your gone and will never be able to come back.Comment

Well as nice as it is on the side of allowing people a better life, we must also look at the choice of the country itself. Why should anyone have the right to just go into another country and live there? A country should have a choice of who they wish to become citizens. Now the only quick way to exepediate the process is if a person is in mortal danger then the system can be hurried along, but for regular cases....I also wonder, as in the case of the mexicans, how much of a better life they are achieving by immigrating, legal or otherwise?Comment

i agree with trip on alot of his post...if they get in trouble...deport them...build a fence, and keep them out......the ones that are already here, well...stay out of trouble, and you can stay...that way they will phase themselves out...their kids will still be here, but they will be citizens, and have a good education....you cant just round them up and ship them out...it would be a financialdisaster...we must stop the inflow of them and let timeslowly get rid of themSUPERMOD@ LORDSOFIRON.COM (invite only)
