  • DirectTV vs Comcast (or othe Cable provider)

What do you guys think ? I had Comcast since they debuted and took over from MediaOne and CableVision here where I live and just about a year or maybe less ago I switched to DirectTV and I am soooo glad that I did. Their customer service is a top notch, the beautiful channels are in HD - 100 of them and Directv offers more HD than Comcast does. Their receivers are better esp. the Hi-Definition Receiver for your HDTV. What else...umm.. better and more sports package... International Channel...SETANTA SPORTS soccer channel (if your a soccer fanatic like me)...and bunch of other channels that Comcast doesn't even have. Also, Gaming Channels... you play live video games with your remote with other people across the country who have DTV. How awesome is that...And all that BS you hear about weather messing the picture/signal strength up is a total BS. If you mount the dish safely and securely it will survive strong winds, blizzards, or any wild weather...unless you get slammed with a strong hurricane or a tornado.

Also, PRICES. ALOT CHEAPER THAN COMCAST. Comcast is known for raising prices while DirectTV never raises anything. Also Comcast High Speed internet is a joke...total fukkin joke.. They tell you you'll be getting 7 or up to 10 mbps...BUULLL****TT... as soon as you install it...at night time when everyone goes online **** can drop down to 1mbps even slower... FOR REAL.. it's because it's LAN meaning...it's shared so... maybe 30 people are connected to the same main line..and all of you feed off of that one line... while DSL even though it's slower gives you your own LINE, PRIVATE LINE so nobody can mess with your bandwidth. Even better, get Verizon FIOS. It's a thousand times superior to High Speed Cable internet.

P.S I don't work for Verizon or Direct TV I just wish I knew these things before I wasted my time on Comcast and their so called "HIGH SPEED INTERNET" MY A$$

I hated direct tv the shyt kept going in and out during wind storms and then when it finally went out they wanted to charge a huge fee to fix it.

anyways goes to show you different people have different experiences hope you dont have the crap that I had to deal with.

I experienced winds up to 70mpg and never lost signal strength or picture at all. As I said it depends how well the dish is mounted.

I just switched from cable to DirecTV. My cable would go out twice a week and the customer service was terrible. DirecTV's customer service isn't much better but at least it hasn't gone out in the three months I've had it.

When I first signed up for direct tv, there was already a stand for a dish and I told the guy just to mount the dish in the mount that was already there...when I came back home what do I see a new mount right next to the old one, so i hated them from the start :p

Then when they told me I had to pay a fee to fix a problem I said forget it it was cheaper just to switch over

I've had Direct TV for about 5 years. Have had great service with them. Only time I lose signal is when the storm clouds exceed 40,000 feet. No problems in winter with ice coating the dish. Just spray a little non stick cooking spray on the dish and problem solved. This tip came from the installer.
My origional reciever just went out about 2 months ago. Called them and within 4 business days had a new receiver in house.
Can't complain about Direct TV at all
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!
