Re: DirectTV vs Comcast (or othe Cable provider)

dish network is waay better than direct tv! I had dish for years, and this year i switched to direct tv, so i could get the NFL sunday ticket....i am breaking my contract and switching back to dish next week....the reciever i got is not user friendly, there is no n demand" channels, the ppv channels are no where as good as dish either. And the damn way the channels are grouped pisses me off..

I've had both and I think DirectTV crushes comcast in a heatbeat. I've had nothing but problems with Comcast. Had DirectTV for 5 years, with not one problem. Only occasionaly if there's a storm it would scramble a little but whatever, thats why you have DVD's and Xbox.

I have Direct and love it. Mediacom was a joke, I had it for three months when I first moved and it was out more than it was in. The internet was worse! I just got fed up and switched all has been good for about three and half years.

My opinion of DirectTV now that we're hooked up. Customer service don't have a clue! The moving you DirectTV bundle is a joke and a total mess... no it's not easy.

However, the DirectTV's technical support that worked with me last night gets lots of props. He helped me with both my husband PC & my Mac.

Merc, the same thing happened to me with Dishnetwork. I had it for 2 yrs and it suddenly quite working. They wanted to charge me for a technician to come out and look at it. I didn't have the money at the time, so I called Charter. They set me up with internet & cable with no problems.

Personally, you can always find someone who has a bad experience with any company. The biggest problem I see lately is that these companies are so big, and they send their customer service jobs overseas. When you try to talked to the reps and technicians, they have such heavy foreign accents that they are hard to understand. This makes for more miss communication compound the frustration. To make it harder on the customer, you get stuck in their automatic phone system and switched around to 4 or 5 different people. I was spending on average an 1-1/2 per phone call.

I've had Direct TV for about 5 years. Have had great service with them. Only time I lose signal is when the storm clouds exceed 40,000 feet. No problems in winter with ice coating the dish. Just spray a little non stick cooking spray on the dish and problem solved. This tip came from the installer.
My origional reciever just went out about 2 months ago. Called them and within 4 business days had a new receiver in house.
Can't complain about Direct TV at all

When I first signed up for direct tv, there was already a stand for a dish and I told the guy just to mount the dish in the mount that was already there...when I came back home what do I see a new mount right next to the old one, so i hated them from the start :p

Then when they told me I had to pay a fee to fix a problem I said forget it it was cheaper just to switch over
