The only thing essential to Chritianity is accepting the fact that Christ died for your sins and asking Him to walk with you in your life and help you live a life that God would be proud of.

        End of story.

Man I've had so much going on in my life lately I'm starting to get wolf neck and ape drape! But I'd rather be so busy I can't see straight, than bored and broke!

I am genuinly interested as I see this type of behaviour all the time. if I start a post about religion, all these "christians" come out and say how Jesus is the saviour, etc, etc, then those same people in other posts act like they are anything but christians, too me it is hard to understand. If you beleive in a faith those beleifs are supposed to be the things that guide one throughout life, that means they influence how you treat others, what you say and most especially what you do!

To sum up Christianity in a phrase "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you!" that is not the same thing as the old testaments "an eye for an eye" it means literally that you always treat others how you wish to be treated, period. Again PL456 my intention is to understand this inigma I see everywhere nowadays (always been that way if you ask me) I see people from all religions that do things constantly that do not conform to what they claim are their beleifs. But pose a question that counters their beleif system and all of a sudden everyone is a back to being a staunch believer again. These beleifs have to translate into all that we do in this life or they are useless.

Once again I say, don't look at the people, we are all human. You are using your own argument for humanism against yourself. People are fallible and imperfect. See my post in the thanksgiving thread. If you let what someone else is doing risk what happens to you for all eternity, that is a very unfortunate thing. People will always fail you. God will not. Read the Bible. You need to really study it and get into the Bible, preferably read it cover to cover, before you decide what you want to do. This is important. Dont risk it. Thats all Im saying. Anything could happen to you or me or anybody tomorrow, and my point is, what if you and atheism are wrong? And, please do not respond with some silly comment. What if you are wrong? Why dont you at least study a little and give it a chance? You would not be doing this for anybody. No one would be making you. You would be doing it for yourself. They said the Titanic was unsinkable? Would you have gone without a life jacket or life boat on board? No. This is important. I urge you to just study a little while and think about it. Do not look at the actions of other people and let them influence you. We all are dumb and childish and selfish--we are God's children, and as children, we do dumb things thinking we know it all. The only difference is wether you have acknowledged God and His son Jesus. No, this is not a ticket to keep on sinning. Bottom line is we are all sinners and will continue to do so, we'll just try harder and not do the really dumb things, hopefully. I urge you, man, just study the matter a little more, for your own sake.

                  Re: Complete ban on guns?!!!

Bro thank you for your thoughts on this it does mean alot to me, I assure you. I can honestly say that I have studied this idea from every conceivable angle, I have studied Christianity very indepthly for the last 18 years, I have learned as much as possible on the subject and that is what led to my lack of beleif, not what people do. I am a person that has wanted to find some confirmation that the teachings I was brought up with were true, you will find few people that want there to be a God more than I. I love the idea that there is a father watching over us, protecting us, and meeting out justice. It is just that I have read everything I can, studied it even in University (I hold a degree in History and Religious studies and am working towards my Masters as I write this) , found out the origins of each and every beleif and the evidence just does not conform to the existence of a god. The more I learn the more it confirms ideas. I have even tried what a Christian friend told me to do, I prayed many years ago to Jesus and accepted him into my heart.....I am still waiting for something to happen. You have to know me bro to know that I take morality very seriously. I often joke that I am more Christian than the Christians! lol I grew up with Christian morality and still follow these ideas without deviance to this day. Please understand I want there to be a god, I want there to be justice but the truth is this life is what we make of it. We cannot rely upon an idea of a god to do things for us. If we want goodness in this world we have to make it. If we want justice we have to find it. Coming to the realization that there is no god has made this life all the more important. And I know that I have lived my life as good as I can so if I am wrong I am not worried in the least (and I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I have come very close to death and did not change my ideas. I was in ICU for 3 weeks, went in at 220lbs and came out at 155lbs! Had heart and lung problems (on tope of having to have a foot of my large intestine removed) had my heart shocked 3 times, went into one surgury quite certain that I was not coming out of it!). Again thanks again for your concern it seems quite genuine to me, and for that I appreciate it!

Seems to me like you just did your usual thing and sidestepped Mandarb's statement you quoted him on. That's exactly the reason why we butt heads so often. I'll come up with responses with facts and links, and you come out with canned propoganda, no links, no facts, and a bunch of religious falicies to go along with the propoganda.

I think it's amusing your own religon was used against you, and you don't know how to respond to it other than, read the bible.

How about responding to his actual statements for once!

                      Re: Complete ban on guns?!!!

DJ, the Bible is all you need. It is the ONLY book that you need to be a Christian. I actually avoid writings of "scholars" in the field. The Bible is the inspired word of God. I tend to think that scholars, while for the most part are genuine in their intentions, will invariably tilt or slant things. What do you have to say about that? Do you not agree that the Bible is THE definitive book on Christianity? Is my remark to "read the Bible" so off base to you?

My statement to mandbar was solid and legitimate and genuine, you chose to slam it. Please, either contribute to the general knowledge base of our discussion or just continue to post up liberal propoganda videos from you tube. thank you and have a nice day.

I chose to slam the fact that you always sidestep peoples questions and statements with a follow up of your usual rhetoric. You never answer anyones questions. You just go off on a completely different topic and act as though the statements or questions asked were never typed.

Bush likes to dodge things too. Maybe that's why you idolize him so. He dodges responsibility by creating laws that keep him from ever being prosecuted for his wrongdoings, he dodged the war when he was in the air force, he dodge questions. Wait a second......I'm starting to see a trend here. PL.....Your not.........Nahhhhh.
