Do you guys think the US and our coalition will ultimately achieve its objectives in iraq. Those being:
    1. a democratically elected government
    2. with a stable constitution
    3. while being a contributing member of the middle east, not a terrorist haven?

not really. not 100% i hope we can leave it in a better politicle state than it was in. i hope we can inspire change, but they got to want it...they have to be willing to die for it...the citizens need to help stop the terrorist's that are there, not turn their head. not harbor them....i have a hard time seeing how this will get accomplished with the divisions they have within their own community. ****e, sunni, kurds, too few trying to work together for a unified, solid iIraq...how can they have a democracy, when all people pull in diff. directions? how can they work together for the good of 1 nation, when they dont want anything good for eachother?

nope, considering we dont even have a stable constitution, but i do think eventually it will go back to not being a terrorist haven as it was before we got there..Its gonna be a messed up place for awhile with or without us there..we need to get out asap, just like we did in vietnam- otherwise this can go on forever.

Maybe if Bush strikes Iran before he leaves office, that variable won't matter.

Very true but can you imagine the political shytstorm that would follow? Now that Russia has jumped on the "I hate America" bandwagon, we'd be in for a world of ****. Not that we aren't already, lol!

                      Re: winning in iraq

What is so interesting with the cut and run crowd is that while true the iraqi government is having difficulty now, what do you think will happen when we leave? Are you willing to throw away all our military has worked for, and risk a total catastrophe by leaving iraq in a lurch just to satisfy your desire to bash Bush?
The Dems want to pull out of iraq precipitously. this would satisfy their goal of further dishonoring Bush. After a pullout as the dems want, the iraqi government would likely fail (blame it on bush); thousands could die in ethnic cleansing (blame it on bush); iran would have a big backyard to train terrorists (blame it on bush); we would have a more limited presence in the middle east (blame it on bush). Bottom line--the dems and moveon.org's want to sacrifce the work of our military, the lives of thousands of iraqis, the country of iraq, and create a terrorist haven just to gain political power. sickening. I wish Bush could stay in office for 4 more years!!!

the "cut and run crowd"...lofl. you mean the majority of the world?

there will be no victory in iraq. any semblence of a legitimate government, "democracy", or a contributing member of the middle east will be just enough of a charade to facilitate the main purpose of the invasion: to stabilize a region enough in order to exploit it's resources, those of which our economy depends on.

if it makes you feel better to associate it with freedom and eagles and **** like that then go for it bro, but it won't change the truth of the matter now, or ever.

the real question is whether or not we can sleep at night knowing what has transpired in the interest of guaranteeing our economic security. indirectly, we all support the war in iraq, whether we know it or not. the multinational corporations that both run the military industrial complex in america and comprise the "rebuilding" effort in iraq have their tentacles dug so deeply into every facet of our existence that we don't see it any more.

so **** it- fill up your suburban, head to macdonald's for a quarter pounder, and buy an eagle for the rear windshield. people are losing their arms, legs, and lives for it- so enjoy it!
so fresh and so clean clean
