  • How my uncle passed away

Some of you may have noticed my post in Pudgy's thread about how I fucking hate tree huggers. Here's why...

My uncle passed away last summer. He leaves behind a loving wife, a 3yo son and an infant daughter. My uncle was a logger.

He was working on a selective logging project on Vancouver island when he lost his life. He was using his chainsaw to cut down an unmarked tree when he hit a spike driven into the tree by a "treehugger". Neither himself or his logging company even had any knowledge people were protesting their logging activities.

Anyway, when he hit the spike, it broke the chain on the saw with horrific results. The chain slashed my uncle across the stomache area and gutted him instantly.

My uncle spent the last few minutes of his life lying in a pile of his own intestines crying for his wife and children. RIP

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers guys.

This happened over 6 months ago, so most of the shock has worn off and the family is well on it's way to recovering.

I really feal bad for his wife tho. She was a live at home mom, now she's got to figure out what to do with the kids and go out and get a job. He had decent life insurance so she's not in too much of a financial bind, but it really does suck.

The worst was seeing my nephew last month... he was telling me about how his dad is a logger and really strong. Poor bugger still doesn't fully understand that his dad is gone and never coming back. I had to excuse myself. He was in a pretty good mood and I didn't want him to see me cry and then have to try to explain why.

Never caught the hippies. No-one saw anyone spike a tree...
