An 03 4.0 Ranger at 60000mi, I get about 300 and somethin with my 16.5 tank...first thing I did was pull out that poopy lil air box an install a K&N fuel injector kit, better response and im sure it does a bit for fuel too.
Leaders did what others weren't willing to do, now they enjoy the things that others do not.
I love everything about my '04 Sequoia except for the gas mileage. I get about 10 in the city and 16 on the hwy. I am thinking about trading it in on a new Tahoe that shuts down 4 cylinders on the hwy. Anyone have one a new Tahoe?
i dont have any personal experience with them, but the folks who have, that i talk to, rave about them!!! ride, finish, mpg, you name it...
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
IT'S GOTTA BE IN THE GEARING. I'VE OWNED 2 GMC'S. 1 A 95 X-CAB SLE 2WD THE OTHER A 97, SAME TRUCK. AT 75MPH ON I-75 BOTH OF THEM WAS TRUCKING AROUND 14-1500 RPM'S AND THE GAS MILAGE WAS GREAT...THE 97 I OWNED UP HERE AND ROAD ALOT OF HILLY TERAIN, AND THE GAS MILAGE WAS GREAT...GOTTA BE THE GEARING. I AGREE, YOURS SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER (YET AGAIN, WE AGREE!!! THATS 2 THINGS WE AGREE ON FOR THOSE OF YOU KEEPING SCORE AT HOME! LOL)
Yeah I thought my truck had 3.73 gears. I'll have to check again.
Your right though. Gears make a huge difference. When I had my Focus I had tons of stuff done to it and when the tranny went I had them install 4.06 gears. It killed my gas mileage and made highway driving ridiculous making highway speeds rev at way higher RPM's in 5th gear than before. I vowed never to do that again unless I had two cars.
Another thing to consider is you probably don't have as heavy as a foot as I do daved.
i average about 12mpg in my '03 expidition. don't do enough hiway driving anymore to be able to tell. the 22s and fat pirrelli's aren't helping my milage, that's for sure.

thats kinda odd...if it's geared right, your mpg should be pretty good. if i remember right, it's a 2wd. best mpg i ever seen in a truck was the couple gm 1500 ex-cab, 2wd's i've owned.
i was driving an expedition that got around 17mpg...now i'm driving a bonn sle, getting around 25 or so
92 octane will hurt ya even with the added timing from the tune as it is a fairly low compression motor. if you are useing a handheld tuner back the timing by 3 degrees and run 87 octane i bet you add 1-2 MPG
Its a custom tune. The guy sent me an entire new pcm. He changed the timing, shift points, took off 50% of my torque managment and deleted my back o2s since I dont have cats. My truck flies now.
Im not *****ing about my gas mileage, I bet it does great when I dont romp on it. I was just stating that I got a tune and it was really bad because I've been driving it like its a racecar lately. I can whitewall the hell out of my tires now.
my mom has the same truck with 32" tires n gets 14 in town 15 highway, wtf?
You just set yourself up for a your Momma joke. Lol.
Anyhow I think those edge programmers save you gas mileage under normal driving. I know my gas tune saves me gas but sucks it down hardcore when I drive it hard.
Is her tire pressure good? High mileage on the truck? Carry heavy loads? Dirty air filter? Check into those 1st.
