if its international law, then why does congress need to pass a law,lol....they only pass laws regarding the USA....go ahead and sue them diggler...maybe your cousin can head the class action suit...dont need Bushes approval...its International Law!

They passed a bill so congress has the reason and ability to go after them. How and why exactly I don't know because I'm not a legal expert, but I'm assuming they have a little more knowledge than you do about what that bill would do because otherwise they wouldn't have passed it. Do you think they did it just for shiits and giggles? I bet that's why Bush so wholeheartedly is going to veto this, because it's all a joke.

i do remember your post awhile back. i do admit, i have heard something about the bill, but havnt really dove into it. kinda got my hands full at the moment, so i missed the tying it all together thing...i still dont see going after opec. i dont think that'll ever happen. i didnt read the law proposed, but i have a feeling it was somehow just smoke to make the public feel they (congress) was doing something for us, which i dont believe they really would. must be a few loopholes in that bill to keep big oil pumping money into their campaign funds, so you wont hear me cheer for congress just yet. as far as your "guarantee" of people bowing to bush...i dont bow for anyone, and your starting to wear me out with that! opec controlls the price per barrel dj, not the cost per gallon. they dont give a shyt if it's givin away to people!! as long as they get x amount of dollars PER BARREL! oil companies dictate the cost to you and me per gallon...them and government taxes! taxes those congressmen fight to get thier hands on! so as you wave you perverbial anti bush flag while standing proud in front a congress you deem to be our savior, watch your back...they carry knives also! smoke and mirrors...

I lived in Pittsburgh so i know alot about the steel industry....and it had nohing to do with spply and demand...the steel workers union broke them...plain and simple...a janitor in the steel workers union was making $25 an hour, plus 5-6 weeks vacation, and 16-18 personal/sick days...and thebest health ,retirement beneffits in he nation...to push a broom! The industry hasnt slowed down...the plants are all just overseas.
In utah, there was the newest, biggest, most high tech steel plan in the country...Geneva steel....2 years ago the chineese bought it, and they tore it down piece by piece and hauled it to china on shipps!!!! They said it was cheaper to do that then to operate it here and pay all the bull**** union royalties, and EPA taxes/fines!

Bro- Yeah, high cost was part of the US problem but don`t forget the Japanese! Our steel industry was built 30-50 years before the Japanese. It was the main thrust of getting their economy going after WWII. So they built all of their plants in 1950-1970, way more efficent than ours and produced a higher quality steel than our older plants. Japan produced 15% of the worlds steel and began dumping it into the American market. They were accused many times of "dumping" selling at below cost just to destroy competition.

So my advice is don`t look for a single answer solution and blame the unions. Yeah, they were a part of the answer, but many other factors over 3 decades destroyed US steel.
