Superb graphics and fight scenes; awesome story. I believe the Sparta culture used selective breeding, creating the perfect soldiers. I got into this movie and so did the lead actor. He started his training months b4 shooting began. While everyone else in the cast started about 6-8 wks prior to shooting.

Re: 300
Actually, the way soldiers were created was that boys were sent into training at the age of 7 or 8. If they displayed the right stuff they got to continue training. Over the years the training would get tougher and tougher and weed out the weak. At the age of 18, their mother would give them their blessing to go and fight. So, it's not selective breeding, it's 10 to 11 years of solid training and weeding out the weak. Just imagine if every boy started playing football at age 8 and was trained by the best of the best until they were 18 years old. Just imagine how much better they would be in college. That's a lot of training before they ever see their first sight of battle. 10 to 11 years of continuous training is more than enough time to master the art of war with the kind of instructors they would have had. Those who didn't cut it, were cut loose, so only the best of the absolute best made it to the battlefield as a Spartan soldier. And when they went, they went with a decade of training under their belt. That's why they were so bad ass. Most militaries of that time were the put together by adding men from the places you conquered to your army. So, at best, most of those men fought together for a year maybe. That's no match for the training the Spartan soldier received.Originally posted by mrthnhmn View PostSuperb graphics and fight scenes; awesome story.
