That the causes of economic hardship, drug addiction and lack of educational resourses are due to FAILED GOVERNMENT POLICIES, not video games.

Aren`t you happy knowing that we`ve got another "seawolf" submarine in the water instead of the 200 schools you could buy and operate with the same money.

Iraqi war one month 7-9 billion on top of the 23.58 billion per month we spend as a nation on defense. One year total 391 billion.

US Department of Education (all schools and universities and student loans, etc in the US) one year total 32 billion.

    you do the math.
Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, but we have weapons that are light years ahead of everyone else. Living in Colorado Springs, we have 5 military instalations and I know people at allof them. Some of which have toplevel access and trust me, the stuff you see on that show "Futureweapons" is nothing compared to some ofthe stuff we have. They 'could' cut back on spending and the militarywould be fine. However, there are so many DOD contractors that would be out of jobs that the unemployment rate would sky rocket. Seriously, you have no idea just how many civilian contractors there are at these bases andthose guys would be some of the ones cut if we did cut back. The government has dug themselves into a huge hole in this respect. I've asked some of my buddies about these things and this is what they tell me. The military would be fine but the companies that design these weapons for us would go under AND, much potentially worse, could attempt to contact other nations with their ideas. See, as long as they have a contract with us, they can't make the weapons for anyone else. But if we just cut them off, do you really think they would just go and find new jobs? Heck no, they would find new buyers, which could come back to bite us in the ass. So, it's a much bigger problem than you think. It's one of those damn if you do, damn if you don't things. And it sucks because I agree 100% with you. We dont' need have the stuff they come up with, we need better education, we need better teachers, we need safer schools, we needsafer cities, we need crack and meth off the streets, that's what we really need.

I appricate your point about the civilian contractors T-nation. But a LOT of the waste isn`t in research, it`s in 8 dollar cokes, and the 14 permanant army bases we`re currently constructing in Iraq, plus military aid we send all around the world. Yeah, that`s right we give Egypt money so they can buy F-15s from Boeing. The research stuff is actually kind of efficient because lots of times there are civilian applications.

But that aside how about this question for you.

      Which will make you safer?

25,000 troop surge in Iraq or
      25,000 new police recruits or
      25,000 new teachers or
      25,000 drug addiction councliors.

Good points guys! I agree on the research also T.

However on the rest of the military aspect I'm totally seeing eye to eye on that with Super. Government should keep up to date when it comes to weaponry, but they need to stop spending our money on other countries, and sticking thier f'n noses where they don't belong!

Oh yeah, I`m all about staying up to date but do we need 12 aircraft carriers?

Plus we`re currently building the USS George Bush. to make a 13th....

We should move this hijacked thread to the politics forum.
