You can go to the folder and select all somehow, I just don't remember how.

Ok I think I got all of them. About 60,000 took me about an hour to delete all of them. Theres one that wont delete for some reason. Hopefully this will work better now. Thanks for the advice.

pm me if u need help. you basically backup any data, then insert the CD and run off of it. delete your hard drive and reinstall like new. it will run just like it did when you got it if not better.

Re: Computer has become so slow!

Another thing to try before the drastic step of wiping your hard drive....

                        1. Click Start - Run. In the dialog box, type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and click OK.

                        2. Click the Startup tab in the window that opens. Look for any non-essential things like add-on things to programs that you normally only launch when you need to run them and clear the check boxes for those things. Don't clear them for your anti-virus software though. When done, click "Apply", then "Close".

                        3. In the next dialog box, click "Restart".

                        4. When your computer restarts, a dialog box will open stating that you have use the System Configuration Utility to change the way Windows starts. At the bottom of that window there will be a check box that will read "Don't show this message or launch the configuration utility when Windows starts". Check that box and click OK.

Hope this helps - wiping your hard drive and reinstalling everything from scratch is a very time-consuming task - try to do that only as a last resort. I have had to do that a few times. You will also have to reinstall device drivers if you do that so make sure you have them on CD's if you have to do that - it will really suck if you have to download a driver for your modem or network card because you don't have a driver for it....

Also, very important for anyone with a Dell - make sure you reinstall the Chipset driver first otherwise your video and sound drivers will not work properly.

that does help, but it is best to wipe if you know how.

You should never back up a computer if it is running slow. You should use a backup disk from before it started running slow. More times than not a slow computer is because of viruses and spyware, and like I've said before yes even your virus and spyware protection programs can become corrupted!

So backup your system the minute you buy a computer. Then you will always have a clean slate to start from.

Don't get me wrong, your right about re formatting. But you wouldn't want to re-install whatever it is that is causing it to run slow in the first place right?

Go to majorgeeks.com and look to the right side of the page where it says top freeware downloads. Get spybot, get adaware, get spywareblaster, and also get a good virus software like avg. Run all of those, download Ccleaner aka crap cleaner, run that and you should be dialed. Also make sure to defrag.
