If you need to drive something new for the next 2-3 years, why not just lease something. Since you drive low milage and you have the money to put down, you could drive something nice and brand new for the lease period, then get rid of it when the time comes. Unless you don't want the car payments.
well dad is wanting to just buy something outright and I can't afford to make car payments...I don't even make 13,000/yr...how pathetic is that
I only suggested the auto due to the city driving, it would be so much easier. I've got a straight drive Mustang GT and it's a pain when you're in start and stop traffic.
oh god I know! I had my mom's former car (a probe GT) for two weeks and it was a straight gear and it was so annoying to shift in all that start-stop traffic...
^ I think she maybe is wanting to be conservative, lol!?
hahahahaha me and conservative are not typically used in the same sentence!
I would LOVE to have a vette but I think I'd have to pry dad away from it! (he had a '69 back in the day...)
and actually, that leads me to the other problem with all this...style...I will be honest (and superficial) for a moment...I DO NOT want a toyota or nissan or honda...why?...b/c every damn car I pass around here is one of those! now, having said that I do understand that this is not my money that I will be working with and I will have virtually no say in the matter...and performance is something that will be key since this will need to last me years since I don't see me being able to afford one anytime soon...
of course if it was up to me I'd say get me a harley and just be done with it

Leave mom at home.
Then take ur dad car shopping lord knows no man can say no to his little girl. Then u can get a Vette.
Theres nothing sexier in this world then a hottie in a sports car.
I dread the day my little girl comes looking for dady to buy her a car. I cant say no to her. She will prolly be driving a Ferrari lol
^lol that is a joke! Why is Ford then down and Toyota building more plants? Ive driven and seen the interiors/engines of both, and Toyota and Honda are much more durable/quality and lasting then any Ford you can buy. Focus is garbage, lol! Look at the interiors. The imports use good quality dyecast materal, while what you get in the Fords is plastic and fitted parts where you can actually see the fittings and seams where they are put together, not with Honda or Toyota. It is just not their technology, but their employees..they actually care about what they are doing, not just about a higher hourly wage and benes. I had a couple of Fords long time ago, but if iam going to spend my hard cash on a car it is going to be one that is better built. I don't care if it is made in usa or not. It is not only that but customer service..do they stand behind what they sell, or they don't know who you are after you buy one? I will say Lincoln Mercury is alittle better in customer service and their higher end cars.
mick, you know i respect you, and your opinion on most issue's, but not this one...years ago, i would agree with you. domestic cars are way more reliable than you give them credit for. alot of your imports are built here in the states, by the same employees that built the domestics!!! what?, they woke up one day and decided to give a sh!t now that they work for a foriegn company??!! mark my words...toyota's quality concerns will come to light in the next few years with the more units they build and sell. and, i have yet to have a honda 4x4 that didnt have transfercase prob's. the larger a/c units on honda's suv's seem to fizzle out alot as well. and i'm not just refering to ford mick...gm makes some excellent vehicles as well.
Play word association with the average American consumer. Say the words “quality cars.” Chances are they’ll respond with “Toyota.” For decades, the Japanese automaker has carefully nurtured and perpetuated a reputation for producing well-built/reliable cars and trucks. As a result, the company’s US sales have grown like kudzu. As of last month, Toyota now sells more cars in the Americas than Ford. If you discount fleet sales (so to speak), Toyota&…
check out the link above...i'm sure you can find millions of links about domestic vehicles, but my point is....watch over the next few years!!!
HE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!
dude...set down the pipe, and pick up your keyboard...that's a bunch of bull!! research...toyota is quickly (and quietly) catching up on the recalls...the more cars you sell, the more quality concern you'll have. that stereotype is dead wrong. i agree, if you looking for a ride from the late 80's-early 90's...go foriegn...if your wanty something from this decade...there is no gap anymore. gm and ford have braught up quality to match, and in some cases, out perform toyota and honda...
sorry bro...but that stereotype is bull, and really ruffles my feathers!!
really??? ever drive a S2000 from Honda???
best performance car i've driven in a long while, and for $22,000-$24000 even 3 yrs old...
but hey, everyone has different experiences..
I drive American though... Jeep wrangler... 2001 bought new, just replaced the 4.0 engine last year, it had 112,000 miles on it.. cost with new radiator installed $1500.....
hahahaha...if I had the five grand I'd be getting boobs, not a car!
Why are women so worried about their boobies? Who cares about boobies. I need a nice ass, and I'm happy. Boobies are like curtains on an outhouse. A nice firm little bubble ass can go a long way.

I CARE...they're not for you sweetie...they are for me...
No argument there. I wouldn't look good with a full C cup. You can have them, as long as you shared and let me play with them from time to time. You know, play telephone with them and stuff.

Well i do have a GM Cad Escl and i do like it, but overall i have to tell you and not just talking Honda and Toyota, this is my opinion, but i have driven many luxury vehicles and there is no comparison with any domestic with an import, and i know many are made in usa. I would even venture to say that even the Jags are now lower in quality because of it. Lets put it this way, if you are going to lease.... yeah doesn't matter what you get, but if you are buying out right go for quality and better materials with durability. Tell me then why are Fords market down when alot of the imports are up? There is a reason for it. The only ppl i know where i live that have the Fords are ppl that work for them or lease. Hell my brother-in-law has worked for Ford almost 30yr now and always has a Ford, but its because of the discounts he gets for working for them.
