I didnt think this job would be as labor intensive as others told me. Im kinda out of shape at the moment and this job really shows it. Im still strong and all but I can tell I've lost some strength. I think I lifted about 40 50 lb bags from here to there, dug about 100ft of trench out, moved about 20 30lb bags 2 at a time, made about 40 connerctions on the drilling rig, used a hack saw to open 5 gallon buckets and bunch of other shiat. Im going to be back in shape quick.
never drilling but I worked various construction jobs for four years and they can beat the hell outta ya and can make it tough to workout bc ur so f'n beat

Anyone else here ever work on a drilling rig?
I've never worked the oil fields but been in commercial construction for a while, running a crew of about 20 carpenter's and laborer's. It's a tough business to be in. Starting out as a roughneck is even tougher.

I haven't worked on a rig but work construction. That's why in your other thread I posted that after working this job for awhile you'll have to cut some of that partying out. I did know what you were getting into.
Make sure to eat more than normal because your burning cals like crazy now.

Yeah havent dont much of anything the last 4 but sleep, eat and work. I eat a lot out there. The other guys say theyve noticed I eat a lot. I need to come up with some healthier options though so I can really reap the benefits.
Yup, Its good money, rather okay money for the time being (if you decide to go to school you'll more than likely make more money in the LONG run) but come summer time you'll be hating ****ing life and your job. I decided to go back to school myself and get a degree so I won't be 40 years old busting my ass doing labor intensive work. It may be for some people but not me.
Best of luck to ya.

Your sore now wait till your 40 or 50. And it's good money now, but if you go to school (tech or college) you'll probably make more money in the long run and save your body. No one wants to be old and hurting.
