Actually, it's a Democrat who's proposing it. The idea is simple, if there's a draft instated then politicians will be more likely to vote 'no' on war. That's the whole premise of the idea. Regardless, it won't pass, but the idea is a Democrats way of tryign to be a ***** and avoid war. I'm not saying all Dems are pussies, but there are a lot of them who are.

and its john mcain who you are refering to from arizona, and he dosen't want the draft either, he does however want to increace troop levels in iraq. Im not saying I agree, or even like the guy, but those are the facts.

I believe you are correct Lilly. If you have an only son you can object and they will waive his draft. I do think they need to get the job done there more quickly, and if that means more manpower and better equiptment, then so be it. To me they need a better stratagy, as right now it is hide and seek. I tend to think they are compromising our manpower tho if they send more ppl there without replentishing what they have. Imo, they should not have started in the first place, but we are past that now. what is the resolution??? You are always going to have ppl pro and con especially when so many ppl have sons that are draft age.
Well, I think my Achilles tear would get me waived due to the potential to tear again from all the intense activity. But, I doubt it will ever come to be. Even if it was, politicians would think twice before going to war. Just think about it...every person those politicians know between the age of 18 and 30 something could be pulled up. They would think twice, I'm sure. Besides, our volunteer military is substancial to do the job. With our technology we don't need a million ground troops.

i wouldnt have a big problem with it -if the war was actually legal and about saving freedom/values (anything worth fighting for) but i would never fight a war to make the rich richer..Im not convinced a draft is out of the picture though..especially if we stay in iraq and decide to make a move in iran and who knows where else
