sorry i missed this bro....well, in my opinion, yes the chevy has had prob's with 03's (and 02's for that matter) and there is a reason why the ford f150 is the number 1 selling truck in the country. the overall ownership cost is less. there is absolutley no arguing about it. the cost for repair on the gm is more. the cost of the unit is usually more. the payload for workers is less on the gm. the towing capacity on the gm is less. it's a nice daily driver. a good family truck, and nice for the wife (my wife perfers the ride of her 04 f150 to that of her 01 gmc) i'm in usedcars. i've owned infinities, gm, ford, dodge...but i wouldnt, at this time, buy anyother truck, other than an f150. no doubt, the most bang for the buck for a work/personal vehicle. now, if your thinking of racing it, go with the chevy. it's not geared for work, it's not set up for work, so it's alot fast off the line. or, get the dodge daytona truck if payload, and "working" your truck is not the priority...hope this helped. it is only an opinion, and some may say biased at that, but i have no name plate i stand behind. they all build nice cars, and they all have there junk.
This backs up exactly what I have been reading. Consumer reports also says that the 01' F-150 through the 05's have better than average overall reliability in that line. I'm def. needing a heavy work truck and looking at F 250 diesel's .
You got pm daved.

I cant have a toyota because of what I will be using it for. Used for commercial construction, hauling backhoes etc.. I wish I could though it would def. save me alot in gas..
You need a 3/4 ton heavy duty....you will be alot happier with a dodge with the Cummins engine.....alot more reliable and alot more efficient than the power stroke in the ford...Diesels were not made to be v-8 or v-6...they are meant to be an in line engine.they last alot longer and have way more torque, which is why you own a diesel.
i wouldnt even consider a half ton...you will hate it
