    Re: Gas companies unsympathetic!

I don't agree with this crap at all^! What, so we are supposed to destroy 2,000 acres of wildlife and habitat per drilling site, so we can pollute more of the atomosphere! It IS the governments and large corporate companies faults. They can spend billions on a country that doesn't give a crap about the usa, but they won't spend any tax $ on the research and development of green fuels, refineries for it, and cell technologies? No why??, because they would loose the revenue that tax on gas and oil brings. The reason that we aren't liked by the Arab nations is because of our lack of respect for their culture, and in trying to control them and our bases there. The reason we are in this bind is because of our unproactive approach to everything. It is a "Rob Peter to pay Paul" society. No one is worried about what will happen in the future in the government. They are all compartmentalized and pass the buck to the next person. Someday it will catch up with us and it will have a domino effect.

Regardless we need to stop depending on foreign oil and use our own damn reserves.

This totally sucks. I hate when people say we have to watch our fuel consumption. How can I watch my fuel consumption when I must drive to work everyday and I must drive to school and I must drive to the super market for my groceries. FL doesn't have a mass transit system so any where that a person needs to go, the person must drive there. Paying $26 to fill up the tank of a 4 cyclinder Honda Civic is ridiculous!!!

We have enough oil to live off of for 60 years. that's about 59 years and 11 months longer than the month you propose. So why are we depending on foreign oil again? Oh yeah because we're waiting till their reserves run out so we are the oil superpower. It's not like technology is advancing at an alarming rate and that oil use will be nearly obsolete by the time that happens. <--- notice the sarcasm!

we have coal gasification technology......Mr Clinton made sure we would never mine one of the largest coal deposits in the world when he made the Escalante staircase a national Monument.......there goes another 100 years of fuel. Thanks alot tree huggers!
And Mick.....you must have never been in the west much...because 2000 acres is nothing out here. Hell, that would be a very small farm in utah or Wyoming. The thing is.....the people who live out here in the west Want the oil drilled, and the coal mined.....its the easterners, who will never even see this territory that are *****ing and moaning about save the wilderness, lol!

                      Re: Gas companies unsympathetic!

Im not saying implement total green fuel altogether, but even if we were to say start with developing crops and refineries for such fuels and the engines for vehicles that would have as much power as gas engines, it would be a major step in not only lowering our fuel costs, but helping the environment. I know we can not do anything right now as citizens, because there just isn't product on the market to change our habits, or enough $ being spent to accelerate this demand. It is up to the government and large fuel companies to put more money into research and put it into action. I also believe ppl that do use their cars/trucks directly in their work and are not being subsidised by their employers, or have their own businesses should be able to get some kind of tax relief in the form of a credit at the end of the yr. I know Pig that there are many hundreds of thousands of acres of land in the western united states, and iam not against using barren land for drilling oil, but iam totally against using say the tundra in Alaska for drilling or areas that are ecosystems for wildlife that if used would disrupt the habitats to where they would have no other areas to live. Imo, we really need to switch gears, and think of alternative fuels and technologies. They had a top meterologist on.. it was either Discovery or TLC, and the president doesn't want him to say what he knows, but he did say that if we go on with the present oil consumption and do not do something now about fuel emissions that there will be major catastrophies within the next 10yrs. He would not say what it will be, but he did say that it is something that even the president has warned him not to talk.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Btw I love the fact that we live in a country with 'FREEDOM OF SPEECH' and our president warns someone not to say something on tv that is true! And this is supposed to be a democracy?HA!

Hey I'm playing nice, I'm just saying you can't believe everything you hear. That's the problem is so many people believe what they hear on tv as text. I was simply making an analogy to prove the point that you shouldn't believe everything that people say. There's nothing wrong with doing that. And it is in no way flaming you.

Isn't that the point of debate?
