I hear ya waterboy....The government always has their greedy little hands in everything. The sad part is this country was founded by people that were trying to escape unfair taxation. Gee as if we're not currently taxed unfairly.

Secondly if the gas companies make so little explain to me how they are making record amounts of money? It's not like people are going out and splurging on gas because the price is so wonderful. Actually the opposite is happening.....People are being a lot more conservative with their gas, therefore the profits of the oil companies should be going down if what you are saying is true. But the fact of the matter is they are raping us at the pump and getting away with billions! I highly doubt they are making .10 cents a gallon. maybe in the past, but not in the present!

Basically DJ it is Ecnomics 101. The law of supply and demand. As in any society as the demand for a product goes up, thus the price will rise according to what the market will bear. Thus as more oil is required for our life style, the demand and price will rise and the supply will fall. There are actually people out there that are hoarding fuels of all types. With all this happening, people being the way we are, will continue to buy fuels just to try to beat the next price increase.
Eventually, the price will top what the market will bear,supply will rise and prices will fall.
And yes, oil companies probally do make more than $0.10 per gallon profit, but that is the figure that I find in all economic reports.

Got another good one for you DJ.
North Carolina adjusts our gas tax twice a year. It was last adjusted UP when the prices were high after Katrina. It was approximately .03 per gallon. Now with July approaching, the tax will be adjusted again. Looks as though it will go UP again.
As of now, we have the 6th highest gas tax in the south, approx. .30 per gallon, and the 5th worst roads in the U.S. Our Governor has decided that the taxes collected on gas should go to other "things" rather than repair our hi-ways. We would have more than enoough for repairs and new construction if he would leave the hi-way fund alone. He has now requested that research be done for the formation of toll roads in our state.
The proposal is to place 6 toll booths along I-95 from the Va. border to the S.C. border with a total cost to transverse our state at $18.00.
To me, That is BS! All it will do is move traffic from I-95, over to I-85.

We have a grass roots movement going on called "Stop The Gas Tax Hike"
It is a website and now has become a rather large movemnet in NC. More than
60K have signed and more are coming daily. A rally has been organized for May 8,this is the first day our General Assembly meets.
The state has said that the tax will not be removed, that it didn't amount to about $15.00 per year per person and that they needed it worse than the public. Seems there is about to be a revolt in NC. Keeep you posted on how it turns out

Went to fill up last night and the phucking gas price for premium has jumped 30 phucking cents in one week... WTF is going on? This is INSANE!!!

the gas will go down, dont believe everything you read!

there three things that can happen

1- We leave the market as it is, next year, the barrell will be down at 45-50$, this is predicted by OPEC.

2- We go toward green source of fuel, hybrid cars and etc... Oil companie sell less gas and need the revenue, so they cut down on price.

3- The motion set by congress will do like before, the price will go down at the same time

The government and corporations will continue to rape our pocketbooks any chance they get! Why you may ask? Because 90% of Americans are naive and don't think that they are being taken for a fool! With half the responses people give, it's like they have every excuse possible to validate the big profits made. I don't care what anyone says I am absolutely POSITIVE that we are being taken for fools. Whoever doesn't think so needs wake the phuck up! What does it take for people to realize we're being taken advantage of?

For 1 we have enough of our own oil to live off of for decades. Why don't we stop depending on foreign oil? Think about it.......By the time we run out of oil we'll be technologically advanced enough to survive without it. If you think I'm wrong just look at history. We've had more technological advancements in the last 50 years than in anytime in history! With advancements coming faster and faster it's only a matter of time before alternative cost efficient energy sources are made affordable and readily available. So again why aren't we using our own oil??

On top of that why aren't we taking as much oil as we can from Iraq right now? We have rights to it since we are dumping so much damn money into that shiiiithole. The least they could do is up oil production there as well.

It's about damn time this country stops outsourcing everything. We get everything from everywhere else. Our clothes are made in China, call centers all based out of India, even our own national security is being outsourced, now our national anthem is going to be in spanish also???? WTF IS GOING ON WITH THIS COUNTRY?? WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO COMING HERE FOR INDEPENDENCE?? SEEMS LIKE WE'RE MORE DEPENDENT THAN INDEPENDENT!
