Your right because we don't live in a democracy.......Last time I checked if there is a problem we petition it and bring it to congress. In the end the politicians know that without the vote of the people, they will not be in office. So our voices would be heard if people would step up and do something about it! But everyone else thinks like you which is why are country sucks ass now! We all just roll over like a bunch of beotches and let the government and big corporations have their way with us! Go ahead and fall in line A bomb. But I refuse to become another puppet!

Well true to a degree. The oil companies are what helped fund the current administration. But the people are what put them in power. If the people speak up their will be change! Your forgetting this isn't a dictatorship, so our voices will be heard! Although as every year passes this place feels more and more like a dictatorship everyday!

Yeah, you know what pisses me off the most, is we have to pay these rediculous prices but yet we have a butt load of crude oil just sitting in our reserves. I would really like someone to tell me why. Obviously, the best choice would be to tell OPEC we will pay $25 a barrel, take it or leave it. Then, let their reserves over flow and cause a work stopage. It would take very little time before they lower the prices just to get us to buy from them again.

Now, of the flip side, if these liberal phuk jobs would get over us drilling in Alaska then we could put an end to this. However, the same dumb ass idiots who ***** and ***** about Bush being in Iraq for oil are the same idiots refusing to let us drill in Alaska. Can you say ass backwards? LOL

Sad part is all the bush supporters always claim this war is not about oil! If this war IS about oil (like I've always said it was) then how come our freaking prices are so damn high? F what opec says....If we are controlling that country why the hell are we not taking gas as payment for rebuilding their country?

Also I so agree with you that we need to use our own damn reserves. By the time our reserves are dried up, we'll have new technology that no longer depends on oil! So what are these morons waiting for! See that's why I see myself more as an independant.....Because both Democrats & Republicans have some very screwed up views!

Iraq is not about oil, its about madmen trying to prove a point!

Iraq produce 1/3 of its normal production, and this is admnistered by americans now!

In the US and Canada we have enough oil to tell the world, go **** yourself, but no!

Also did you consider how much taxes we have. Here I have SIX taxes to pay, so today the price is set at 1.09 per litre, about 80 cents are taxes!!!!

                          HELL!

I saw where diesle engine before a certain date can run on oil from fast food restaurants with no mods done to the car. And after that year for about $800 you can make even new diesels run on it. Need to run it through a filter first.

Doesn't seem as stupid now as when I heard it when gas prices were around $2.

I'm not going to haul a few thousand pounds of wood with a civic! This is absolute crap, and I don't know why american citizens aren't rallying! I don't even want to hear the shortage shit! I'd love for someone to explain to me how oil companies are making record amounts of money? Why isn't our government taxing these bastards high amounts on what they make until they drop their prices. Eventually they'll be forced to drop their prices. They can't go without our business forever!

True, large oil companies are making a huge profit, but lets break it down.
The average profit per dollar made by oil companies is approximately $0.10 per dollar spent by the consumer. This falls well within the profit margin of other corporations. They have research, equipment, shareholders, etc.
Next, lets look at government. They get approximately $.30-$0.35 per gallon in taxes. This is pure 100% profit for them. Government does not have any research, equipment or any other type of investments in gas.It is just money rolling in to them on every dollar spent for fuel. Over the last 10 years, the government has collected over $1,000,000,000,000.00 (that's TRILLION DOLLARS) in taxes for fuels. I know this is supposed to be used for hi-way improvemnts and building new hi-way systems, but do you honestly think the government cares where it goes? Just look at the pork that was added to the hiway bill passed last year. I think I recall it was over a couple of a BILLION dollars in pork.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending oil companies, but we shold also look at getting the feds to lower the tax rate on motor fuels. The feds mandate every so often the there must be different blends and cleaner fuels for different sections of the country. Why not just figure out which blend is the best for the country and make just one blend?
Next, the green weenies have had a strangle hold on government and oil companies from building new refineries and oil exploration in our country.Every one has the NIMBY sindrone,(Not In MY Back Yard)
There has not been a new refinery built here since the 70's. Our refineries are running at 95-97 % capacity. Why not build new refineries and help ease the load of transistion from heating to motor fuels? It has been stated that there is enough reserves in the U.S. to supply our country for at least 60 + years.
But no new exploration is allowed because a bleak picture is painted of what will happen if exploration is allowed. Techonology has changed vastly over the last 10 years and exploration is not as dramatic or unfriendly as before.
When the Alaska Pipeline was constructed, the environmentalists warned the caribou would die. Suprisingly, they enjoyed the warmth provided by the heating of the oil in the pipeline so it would flow. They migrated to it for the birthing of their young.

OK, Sorry about the long rant. But just wanted to bring to the front that it is not only the oil companies that are the balme for high prices.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!
