I read the book a few years ago, the movie is close to the book, people expect the movie to haev a point and it really doesn't, but neither did the book, it is just the memoirs of a f' up kid who joined the marinesR.I.P. GearedUp

IT WAS OK. I TALK TO A BUDDY (SORT OF) THAT WAS THERE, AND HE DIDNT LIKE IT EITHER...BUT, HE DID SAY HE COULD SEE IT ALL HAPPENING JUST LIKE THATHE WHO MAKES A BEAST OF HIMSELF, GET'S RID OF THE PAIN OF BEING A MAN!!

Same here, on a scale of 1-10 I give it a 5. It was hyped up as this total war movie and then there was hardly any fighting. I personally would never watch it again and my buddy who was with me was of the same opinion.
