So what do some of you shorter guys wear, name brand wise, for polo style of shirts. I can't find a polo shirt that fits that doesn't look like a night gown. It seems all the manufacturers are going after the "Abercrombie" look. I mean there isn't even a "loose" fitting polo shirt that i can find. They all are after that "tight" fitting look.

Re: Polo Style of Shirts
Well, I normally wear XXL but in polos I usually go only XL for that reason. I hate the way they look so baggy aroudn the waist. Since I wear polos almost everyday I can tell you I love "Polo", "Nautica Golf" and "Eddie Bower". Those are the best. However, for my body type I have found that the thinner material from Eddie Bower is better fitting than the thicker material. The Nautica Golf I get the same quality material as Polo. It's thicker and they last. I have polos I've have for 5 years that get worn regularly and they still look good. I also have some lower quality ones that after 6 months to a year start to wear out or get holes from being dried or just start fadding.
Also, I will not buy Polo or Nautica Golf at a mall or department store. I go to Stein Mart. It's always about $25 to $30 each instead of $55 to $65. I also get my dress shirts there too. I got some Calvin Klein dress shirts for $20 each. They don't have the same stuff all the time so you need to drop in once a month or two to see what's in. If you wait too long the good stuff is never there.

I can get shirts to fit at an XL, but I am 5'8" so it is too long, that is the problem, not so much baggy. Larges fit on my body for most part if you are going after the "super tight hey look I lift weights look". I am not really into that look nor do I like to portray myself as a "meathead". I dunno, just personal preference.

Re: Polo Style of Shirts
I see. I'm only 5'10" but I'm long waisted so they don't hang down on me as far as tehy would you. Dont take this the wrong way, but can you find juniors polos in XXL. There are kids who are much shorter than us who are much bigger aroudn than we are from beign fat and they seem to find shirts that fit. Not being smart, just trying to give you ideas.
Also, if you really like the shirt, you can always have it altered for less than $10. If it meant the difference between having a quality shirt that you would wear, I'd pay teh extra $10 to get it to fit right.

Re: Polo Style of Shirts
i think you will have to stray away from a designer if you don't want the long feel of the polo. i used to buy RL polo's all the time and they DO hang very low which i hate. i like my polo's to be just a few inches below my waiste. i hate it when you buy a designer polo and the tail of it hangs down to the middle of your hams. who needs a shirt that ****ing long, seriously. maybe if i was 6'9", that might work. but i'm 5'10" so its just too ****ing long. as much as it pains me to say it, you may have to go to Hollister, Abercrombie, or Express if you want a polo that does not hang down like that. i haven't stepped foot in Abercrombie in like 2-3 years, but it may look like for the summer i might have to. also, you may want (granted your shoulders are broad which i'd assume they are) to buy their largest size possible. not sure what sizes they go up to, but this thread got me intrigued, i'm bout to get on their website and see what they have. brands such as Tommy(which is pretty much non existant now, lol) Ralph Lauren, Nautica etc...will always be long for some reason. if you want designer, the only thing i can think of is Polo Sport. thats RL's outerwear type clothing, so the clothes are more fitting IMO.
it also sucks because i like the looks of RL polos, but around the arms, they are made for a 130lb frat boy with 13" arms. the fact that i'm 205lbs with 17" arms, they almost cut off circulation....vascularity comes out better, lol. who needs eq when you can just wear a RL polo. ha!

Re: Polo Style of Shirts
Let's face it guys. The clothing manufacturers don't have guys like us in mind. When I say guys like us I mean larger than average arms and wider than average shoulders/back.
When they make an XL shirt they are thinking about the average american male which, in most cases, is overweight and not athletically built. Therefore, the shirts will be big in the belly area (the dress effect) and regularly sized in the shoulders.
If it is Abercrombie, Hollister, or a couple others they are tailoring their clothing to teenagers who want a tight fitting shirt. I am willing to bet that most of the guys in here don't even fit into shirts from the above mentioned stores.
What I do is buy Polo shirts and have the sides taken in by a tailor. It gives plenty of room for the arms/shoulders/back and yet doesn't look like a damn dress in the belly area.

Those who can count and those who can't.
