Well, today I watched Bush talking about hurricane Katrine and recent gas prices and what he said was.. "don`t drive your car" if you dont have to.. does he have any idea how will people leave for their jobs etc.. maybe invent wings and start flying.. he also says he did open reserves but which is not enough northern part of the USA is still better then south and west.. and he says it can only get worse and it will take LONG LONG time until the prices go down... we dont have enough ships to get gasoline from overseas and the policy doesnt allow international ships to deliver here.. so boys and girls we are officialy fucked.. believe it or not.. get that gas while you still can.. atlanta is already payin close to $6 per gallon.

Bush is a freaking idiot, I don't care what anyone says! First off if he's so harsh on price gauging then why the fuck was it ever allowed for gas to go over $2 a gallon? If they were trying to give american citizens a break they would cut all federal and state taxing on gas till the prices come down. Of course they would never allow that though! Not only has he let us obtain gas from our own stockpile......But Venezuela (where we get alot of gas from anyway) is also giving us free gas right now because of the hurricane. So why are the prices going up again?
Ever think of this....Let's say that gas is taxed at a 7% rate. That means on a ten gallon tank at $1.50 a gallon the government gets $1.05 from that sale. Now that prices are $3.50 a gallon, the government gets $2.45 from that same car. In other words the government is profiting tremendously off of this. I wonder where that money is going? Can we say WAR! Not only that but I think the government is trying to bring down the deficit, and use this as a way to secretly tax people without them realizing whats going on!
So why is our country allowing foreign countries to fuck us like this? I don't want to hear the opec excuse! We are a world power and if we tell them the prices better come down they will come down....Period! Bush, his family and partners all have thier hands in the oil industry, so gee I wonder who's profiting off this?

By the way, ours is still 2.74 for 87 octane so I know they are raising the prices to screw people where some of you guys are. Our governor said he would come down hard on anyone raising prices in anticipation, they can only raise prices when they have to pay more but they can't raise the price for gas they already have. And so far, they are listening. Some of you should write yoru governors to get involved. Most can be emailed.

And your telling me the government is not getting more revenue from the higher gas prices?? That has nothing to do with politics, that has to do with numbers. You multiply the tax rate by what prices were, and what they are and tell me with a straight face they aren't profiting more off of the higher prices?

Teh tax on gas is a flat tax, not a %, so NO they are not receiving one single cent more. I thought you would have done enough research to know that. Hell, I though everyone knew that. It's the same with cigarettes, the govn charges a flat tax. Any other raise in price is due to the companies.

Honestly, it's only like 40 something cents per gallon. Most of the money we pay is going to the oil companies. The government gets very little compared to the greedy ass Arabs.
