The first time I took adderall I actually sat down and cried, not because I was messed up but because I could think, clearly think, about ONE thing, ONE THING AT A TIME. People who don't have this problem have no idea how excruciatingly frustrating and depressing this can be. Your life spirals out of control because you have virtually no control over your thought processes. It is pitiful.

it did the exact opposite for my son. He went from focusing on one or two things to sensory overload. From one extreme to the next and he wasn't even taking the full dosage. He couldn't fall asleep bc his brain wouldn't turn off, he kept grabbing his head and saying "make it stop" and cry bc he couldn't do anything about it. It was being used in conjuction with Tennex (sp?) , we took him off adderall immediatly....no problem since. I know it was designed to open up receptors but holy crap that was a little extreme.

GP- I truly apologize if what i said bothered you, it wasn't meant that way in the least. I was shocked to find out about what Canada has done and some of the reports i read. I was merely trying to pass on some potentially useful news, thats all. please forgive me

If you do consider medication think about atomoxetine (strattera). Its a non-stimulant but it can be hard on the liver. It works by selectively blocking the reuptake of norephinephrine. It actually works really good. Like every one said already, however, its a good idea to use as a last resort.
