      Re: WHO DO YOU BLAME

You never know... And often it's a combination of more than one thing.

However, I too would believe the parents and up-bringing to be the single greatest factor.

All I need to do is look at the kids I grew up with and how they turned out. Every one of them that has had problems in life, also had problem parents or an unstable up-bringing. The flip side was my best friend in HS... his mom was a wack-job, and his father was never around (divorced).... he turned out to be one of the nicest people I know..
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

First you say don't blame the parents, then you say the above ^. Who do you think is responsible for ritalin, punishment, spanking, teaching values, teaching respect, etc? THE PARENTS! If they don't learn it at home they wont learn it at all, most of the time.

I blame parents and liberals! This whole "I don't want my child to hate me", "I want to be their friend", "let the child make his or her own decisions" crap! It's all crap. Sure, a child should be allowed to think for his or her self but they are to be guided by their parents until they are old enough to make rational decisions on their own. If the parents don't teach right from wrong they wont learn it. It's not allowed to be taught in public schools.

So where else do people expect them to learn it? Trial and error? Bullshit! That's how they end up in Juve or worse. They need to knwo right from wrong and they need to show respect to people. Kids, for the most part, are desensitized. They don't care. I read a poll that stated 89% of high schools students think it's ok to lie if the lie doesn't hurt someone. What about straight integrity, honor, self respect and turstworthyness? You can't tell a lie and say to practice any of these things. It's an oxymoron. A trustworthy liar? An honorable liar? They don't exist.

Amen! When you child screws up you need to tell them you are disappointed in them. Period! If not, why would they stop. If they got praised for their wrong doings they would never change their ways.

Parents and them being too liberal. also kids have access to all kind of media ie: online, computer games, tv, cable. Not to mention other kids at school with bad values. It is up to the parents/parent to monitor their children and to stay on top of what going on in their lives, and not be afraid to say no and mean it. Lot of children at least in my area are very spoiled also, parents giving them anything they want, cars, clothes designer, money.
