tired of hearing : parents, parents, parents! I had the best parents in the world, but if I go rampage and kill 20 peoples, then my parents did a bad job? NO, about time people take the credit of their stability and us too.

I agree with bringing back punishment 100%. When I screwed up in school you knew you were going to cracked with big ass paddle and the rest of the class is laughing at you. Now the damn kids threaten the friggin teachers for christ sake. It's all screwed up. There is no respect. But alot of that does go back to parenting. There's alot of parents that have no idea what there kids are doing and worse many don't care.

I believe the parents have a big role in this. Heck, if my parents ever found any bomb making material or death records of people in my room, I would have been grounded for life! My mom had this punishment called "shadow" where if we got in really bad trouble, we were her shadow for a week. After school, we had to go straight to her work, stay there til she left, go grocery shopping with her, go to her friends house with her, etc - can you imagine how humiliating and boring that was?!?!

I think it's society as a whole. The "experts" want us to never discipline our children, to praise them even when they screw up, to baby them and turn them into a bunch of self centered, spoiled pansies. I've heard it referred to as the pussification of America.

wow that is such a tough question. i agree with vandoo that everything is probably to blame to a certain extent. sooo many variables. however one thing you didn't mention fuzo is the school system and the teachers. no offense to any teachers, cause i do think there are some good ones but i have very little confidence in todays school systems. i think the majority of teachers are underqualified and have no business around kids at all. in some of these cases and even outside situations teachers stand by and do nothing to stop kids from being picked on.. shit i've even heard of stories where the teacher participated in making fun of students. i've seen people in my area become teachers in there early 20's and act no different than they did when they were in school themselves, favor the popular, especially the good lookin girls....its sick.

I think you are right on with this, parents need to take for of a parental role and less of a friend role. Who remembers being beat with the belt until it hurt to sit down. Now people try and reason with kids insted of laying down the law

if i have kids they will get THAT NOGIN THUMPED if they step out of line! i did. my dad did, his dad did, and they will too!!!
