If you are having trouble staying logged in when navigating between forums/topics/etc., you need to reset your session cookie. Go into your browser and delete any cookie for the site them log back in. This should fix the login issue.
My thoughts are - if you like the dress in white, who cares what everyone else thinks?!? You can make any outfit more summery or more wintery - for instance, putting a shawl on with it (while outside) will make you seem more covered up.
I like TTU's idea of adding red or pink shoes and jewelry.

You will look great in either color, but you want to know which you should wear to dinner . . . ? I assume your boyfriend is taking you out for a nice dinner, right? Black is definitely more appropriate for a formal evening occaision like this. Red would be great too if they have it. White would be more appropriate for an afternoon event. But again, I think you'll look great in either.
