I don't get how being against homosexuality translates to hateing the individual. I have a very close friend, someone I would call "brother" who is gay. I certainly don't hate him, but we have had countless discussions on this subject. There's no getting around it, the act in and of itself is wrong. By quoting "your body is a temple" it sounds like you're trying to excuse wrongful behavior by citing bad behavior. To love someone is to want the best for them and try to help them, not go with the flow.

FYI the bible references are int he New Testament. I am not judging homosexuality, I stand against it. God has declared it wrong, therefore I will not disagree with Him. You are right though I do have a problem with gay marriage. It is wrong in God's eyes and as Christians we have an obligation to uphold our beliefs and God's teachings in the Bible. I believe more reading is needed on your part.

well, if you want to call it "judging", then so be it. but we are all called to "judge" for ourselves and our families what is right and wrong. we "judge" that stealing is wrong, we "judge" that lying is wrong..we are "judging" behaviors. behaviors are either right or wrong. we look through the Word and "judge" for ourselves what is right and wrong. and yes, there are clear cut rights and wrongs in this world. let me ask you, angry..would you agree that homosexuality is wrong? is that behavior wrong? You see PL, I don't sit and dwell on it and ask myself if it's wrong. There other problems in the world today that bother me more than homosexual relationships. Obviously, segregation, abortion, hate mongers, death, terrorism, and a plethera of other things don't bother you as much as homosexuality. That for the life of me I can't figure out. But to amuse you, I'll answer your question.
I think homosexuality is unnatural. But then again, why do I think it's unnatural? Maybe because all my life I grew up with watching Mr. and Mrs. Brady get into bed together. I never saw the real Mr Brady and his homo lover get into bed (which of course he died from AIDS due to his homosexual lifestyle). So do I think it's unnatural because I haven't been exposed to it much? Yea, probably. But there's also a lot of other things I consider unnatural. I think child beauty pagents are unnatural. I think cross dressing is unnatural. Many things I consider unnatural. But does it make me lie awake in bed each night trembling? Hell no. If someone says to me, "Hey, I'm gay!" My response would be, "Good for you. Whatever makes you happy." I'm not going to stand there and tell them how much the Lord hates them for thier lifestyle. That's not my job. The Lord told us to spread his good word. By telling someone their going to hell for being gay isn't spreading his good word, it's judging for him. By people disliking the gay lifestyle, it makes them and everyone else against it no different than a KKK member. KKK members spew hatred for blacks, Jews, Chinese, whoever. Because those people don't live up to their "standards". People who hate gays dislike them because they don't live up to their "Christian" standards. So what's the difference?

I resent being compared to members of the KKK! They are consumed by hate, and I've said nothing about hatred of any group of people. If someone is a thief, I don't hate them, but what they've done is wrong. The same goes for gays. The reason we are talking so much about the homosexual lifestyle is because that's what this thread is about. This doesn't mean I'm not passionate about the injustices carried out in the name of "freedom of choice"! If you want to discuss these topics, start a thread on it and I'll back you up 100%. But do NOT put me in a catagory with a despicable group such as the KKK!

Not unnatural or anything...is it wrong or is it right in your mind? the way you answered my question and illuminated alot in your response. it appears as though you are "tolerant" of the homosexual lifestyle. I am not tolerant of the homosexual lifestyle. by being tolerant, either indirectly or directly you are condoning it. this is the problem. and I, too, did not appreciate the reference to the KKK and the flaming towards me regarding me not considering terror and death and the other issues being very important. I HAVE MANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS SERVING IN THE MIDDLE EAST CURRENTLY. KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND DISRESPECT SOMEONE. if you cannot have a civil conversation, please, go elsewhere. First off, I think you might be overly sensitive since I'm hitting a sore spot with you. If I'm going to disrespect someone, it's going to much more severe than what I typed above. I'm a better pain in the ass than what you percieve :withstupi . You look at it as disrespect, I look at it as calling you out and asking "why are you worried about something so trivial when there's waaaaay more importaint matters at hand?". And as for comparing YOU to the KKK, I never mentioned anyones name. But I would like to ask YOU a question, then I'll answer your question. My questions to you are:
1) "Do you feel the KKK is a racist group?"
2) "Describe "racism"
3) "What makes a person who hates gays much different than someone who hates blacks, Chinese, Jews?"

Now, I'll answer your question. Is homosexual behavior wrong? In my eyes, yes. HOWEVER, I also feel smoking is wrong, alcoholism is wrong, steroid abuse is wrong, and many other things. So if I see a smoker, should I start quoting the Bible saying "Your body is a temple........?" No, that would make me a hypocrite. AND ONCE AGAIN, WHO AM I TO JUDGE???? So to answer another of your questions, I am tolerant of the homosexual lifestyle. I don't like it, but I must respect and love my brothers and sisters for who, not what they are. But once again, if you are going to judge a PERSON for their lifestyle, IMO it's the same thing as judging a person by the color of their skin. That gay person, or black person, or Chinese person, might be the NICEST person you've ever met and spoke to. They may save your life one day in an emergency situation. But if you already have judged that person on their lifestyle, then whatever they're like doesn't matter an ounce of piss.

Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. The works of the flesh are evident which are adultery, fornication, witchcraft, jelousies, hatred, drunks,etc. Those who practice these things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Yes the word says that homosexuality is dead wrong. God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Will homosexuals go to hell if they don't recieve Christ as their savior? Yes. This isn't hate, this is the word of God. It is the job of a christian to RESTORE a person back into right relationship with the Lord. The Good News is that they can be delivered from homosexuality. The good news is that Christ died so that we can live. Not to live as we please but to live to please the Lord. In return we live a life of joy and peace. Before my husband was saved I would Bible thump him and tell him he was going to hell and it didn't work. It made him rebel more. So I just prayed for him and tried to love him and the Holy Spirit did the rest. Can we ride the fence and have one foot in the world and one foot in the church? No. How can we claim to be a christian if no one can tell us apart? The Bible says in Corinthian's to Come out from among them and be set apart. Anyway, should we judge?? Well, if someone is claiming to be a Christian and bears no fruit and is living in the world then yes, they need to be confronted so that they don't decieve others. If someone is not born again then we are to love them and tell them the good news.

Oh, sorry. Anyways, I see everyones point here, and respect each and every one. And I also agree with one other thing:The Bible can be interpreted in many ways by many people.
For example, the Bible is VERY clear or killing. One of the commandments is "Thou shall not kill". Can we all get a big Bible Thump "Yay Jesus" and all agree on that? The Bible is very clear on Killing. Another thing the Bible is very clear on:
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:38:45 )
Turn the other cheek. Can we get another Big Bible Thump "Yay Jesus" and agree the Bible is very clear on turning the other cheek? OK then. So who's going to be the suicidal person to tell every Vietnam Veteran, ever WWII veteran, every parent of every child in Iraq right now who has killed an "enemy", that they are going to hell for killing someone? I mean, hey, the Bible doesn't state "Thou shall not kill, unless they try to kill you first, or in the event of a war". So who shall try to straighten these wayward souls out? They must be saved for such a non noble cause as fighting for this country and the freedom of every American. I mean, kill an Iraqi who is shooting at you? That's a sin according to our Lord! Someone has to tell these people they're going to hell. Who volunteers? Yea, me neither.
So again, let me reiterate, the Bible can be taken in many different ways by many different people.

Have you heard of John Hagee? He is a preacher. He is great on exlplaining the word. He's actually talking about Iraq and how it is in the Bible and how prophecy is coming to pass. Anyway, I live like this... I have to be accountable for "me". If the Lord says go here or go there, then I go. Otherwise I try to spend time in the word in church and with him to be the best that I can be. I still need alot of work. I just read the book of James......Read that one and tell me you don't come out convicted. Any hooo.
