I'm not questioning or trying to put limitations on God's power. He created things as they are and the things mentioned take time. Time is nothing to God, he works independantly of time and space because both are creations and as you mentioned the creator cannot be subject to the creation. That being said, our time and His "time" are not the same.
The Scripture referenced varies from translation to translation. I have no doubt that the teachings of the Bible are absolute. However, it cannot be said that each and every word is accurate. There are too many translations, all keep the story and lesson, but vary on many individual words leaving room for a debate like the one we're having here.
I've actually read an article similar to the one you posted. Interesting, but you can't draw a paralell between this story and the Grand Canyon. Like you noted about using one translation of a verse in Scripture to asign a meaning or deffinition to all, the same holds true in science. What happened at Mt. St. Helens has no bearing on the gradual creation of the Grand Canyon.
It doesn't bother me to (when faced with enough evidence to warrant it) change my mind on matters of science. Science is simply an attempt to understand a given subject. In that attempt theories are formulated and some of these do not stand the test of time. I have no problems there. I'm just another blind guy in the dark trying to feel my way around and gain a better understanding.
Bro, how did we get this far away from The DaVinci Code? Oh well, these things always take on a life of their own. Peace.
