Please tell me it isn't that silly............................................. .................................................. ....................................... After reading the riddle again it says it falls "with" breaking the shell. If thats not a mistype, then that is the answer? The shell actually breaks?

he dropped it from 3 feet up ... so it fell 2.5 feet without breaking, and then broke when it hit the floor
