Blackfoot......LOL LOL LOL - that was hilarious!!!

Ladybug.....I usually wait to go to the ER until it is really bad.....sometimes the stone is just moving and the pain isn't there for too long so if I have extra pain meds layin around from the last one - I will take those until the pain gets really bad.....the really really really really really bad pain is usually only around for a day or so or until you get yourself to the ER for heavy pain meds......so it's really a bother to have to go to the ER when you know all they will do is something you could have done in the comfort of your own home but I guess it isn't safe to give extreme pain meds out to people for their own use.

C&C......since I had lythotripsy done.....it broke the stone into little tiny pieces - so mine looked very similar to salt. I have never actually seen a whole kidney stone - other surgery I have had takes the stone out during the procedure - and on top of that, I have already had my stones tested so they know what kind they are.....so I don't worry about straining to find it. BUT - they really don't look like much (I think) until you get them under a microscope.

Hope this helps everyone - keep the questions comin - this is fun

To make a bad story worse I ended up back in ER last night because I still hadn’t passed it. So this morning they had to go in and get it. Lithotripsy wasn’t an option they couldn’t see it on the CT, X-rays, or IVP. So yes they had to put the stent in until Thurs. or Fri. The good new is they got the stone and I at least get to see what kind it is. Bad new is I’m out of the gym for at least another week. Good thing I got a laptop and wifi.

I have had 7 of them. The first, i thought the world was coming to an end. I have only been able to pass one of them, the rest, they go in and get, and yes the stent was put in everytime except once. I hated that damn thing! When the pull it out, it is just get ready to burn and piss blood! It makes your toes curl.
The last one I had, I told them no stent and so they out a cathether in and that was worse.

Good Luck in the future, they say once you get one, they keep coming!

I feel like a man again…the stent is removed. Can’t wait to hit the gym again. To bad it will be closed this Sun, I’ll have to wait till Mon. Oh found out the stone was calcium. I am doing the metabolic work up soon to see what I need to change in the diet. JL did you do a metabolic workup?
