So if you wanted to do one about your ethnic backround such as "Irish history, or Spanish History month" That would be great.

The best quote I've ever heard is still Emiliano Zapata's, "I WOULD RATHER DIE ON MY FEET THAN TO LIVE ON MY KNEES"

You want some history about "The Great Martin Luther King"? Here's some little unknown facts about this "great" leader that now has his own holiday.

Four Things you didn't know about 'Dr. Martin Luther' King:

        1. His name wasn't Martin Luther. It was Michael. It was decided 'Martin Luther' had a more prominent ring to it, so he went by that. He never legally changed his name. To this day, he lived and died as Michael King.

        2. While working on his dissertation for his doctoral degree at Boston University, he heavily plagiarized from another author who had done research on a subject similar to King's. An academic committee later found that over half of King's work was plagiarized, yet would not revoke his doctrine. King was dead by this time, and the committee ruled that revoking the title would serve no purpose. It was also discovered that King's famous "I Have A Dream" speech was also not his own. He stole it from a sermon by Archibald Carey, a popular black preacher in the 1950's.

        3. King was under FBI surveillance for several years (until he died) due to his ties with communist organizations throughout the country. King accepted money from the organizations to fund his movements. In return, King had to appoint communist leaders to run certain districts of his SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference), who then could project their communist ideas to larger audiences. A federal judge in the 60's ruled that the FBI files on King's links to communism to remain top-secret until 2027. Senator Jesse Helms appealed to the Supreme Court in 1983 to release the files, so the current bill in the Senate to create the Martin Luther King Federal Holiday could be abolished. He was denied.

        4. One of King's closest friends, Rev. Ralph Abernathy, wrote a book in 1989 in which he talked about King's obsession with white prostitutes. King would often use church donations to have drunken sex parties, where he would hire two to three white prostitutes, occasionally beating them brutally. This has also been reported by the FBI agents who monitored King. King was married with four children.

Monday was "Martin Luther King" Day. A day when this country came to a screeching halt so we can have parades and memorials to honor this man, a man that most of the world views as a saint for his role in the civil rights movement.

No other public holiday in the United States honors a single individual. Of all the great leaders in our Nation's history - none of them have their own holiday. All of our great war heroes share Memorial Day. All of our great presidents share President's Day. Yet King - a man who was a phony, a cheater, a traitor, and a sexual degenerate - gets a day of his own.

I have a big problem with that.

I'm not trying to take anything away from African Americans, but I am trying to point out that (1) the vast majority of people are sorely mistaken about Michael King, and (2) that reverse discrimination is blatantly obvious everywhere you look today. Been watching the news lately? President Bush just got himself in some hot water when he spoke out against the University of Michigan for giving black applicants precedence over more qualified white applicants. Now Jesse Jackson, the NAACP, and other black leaders are trashing him, without a doubt planning how they can use this against his re-election campaign. Think about that - Bush just made a stand for equal human rights, but low and behold - in this case they don't want to be treated as equals. Make up your minds.

As a white heterosexual male, I feel like I belong to one of the more abused ethnic groups in this country today. Can I do anything about it? Absolutely not. If I dare speak out I'll get labeled a racist, harassed by the media, subsequently lose my job, and never be able to show my face in public again. But what I will do is send out this email to as many people I know in hopes that when you're watching the news Monday evening, and you see our politicians falling all over themselves to be filmed in a black church somewhere, you might stop and ask yourself - what about us?

The struggles of your ancestors SHOULD NOT entitle you to special treatment. If it did every damn race on the earth would have a reason to feel sorry for themselves. There is only one station on television that directed towards Black Americans. The rest of them are for caucasian. I don't care though cause I never watch television.

Here is an example...Bill Clinton was a good President, he fucked up and did dishonest immoral things. That does not take away from the positve things the did for the country. Same goes for MLK I dont give a shit if he did this and that. ..Overall, he did alot for the country. Dont judge others especially if we fuck up as well now and then.
I laugh when people ***** about "reverse racism". WA WA WA It is so hilarious and ridiculous to me. LOL

Some people need to view the grass from the other side of the fence. There is racism everywhere these days, and yes, reverse racism is possible. Ironically we are discussing it in my business class this semester.

Very good post, and very true in my humble opinion. I like all races of people, but I do feel people don't realize the reality these days.

this is my chubby white guy opinnion.

the on air black culture as a whole...is with out a doubt keeping there self under the hand of opression...i will state why i think this. note: i said ON AIR black culture....this does not nessicarly inclube oe exclude the everyday black individual.

when some one says "black culture"......i can guess that most people think of a R&B or a rap star. this unto its sellf is defeating especialy goes for the rap artist. Look at the subject matter and then look at what they are trying to project as real life.
so many people in the rap industry constantly talk about the ghetto life and the thugh life...and the hood.....and it seems that no matter what level of success a rapper gets to ...they are still claiming about their "thuggness " it amazes me to see milionares still trying ot act that thier everyday life is a "thug life" the reason this is bring them down is because no social group as a whole will ever look uppon the "thugg life" as a positive thing......BECAUSE ITS NOT.
how many times do we hear "i cant helpp it was brought up in the ghetto"..?....yea so were thousands of jews and look how far many of them have came.

its not just the music industy we can thank for this but whay about major sports....its the idea that maybe i can shit my way through school and get bad grades.....but no worries im gunna play ball some day...and then ill be rich.....or im gunna hit it off with a record and ill be the next nelly or $.50 or lebran james ...where is the push from these supposed role models saying ....work hard get good grades and go to college?? Check out Maurice Clarett a good College football player most would say will go pro someday.....with out a doubt gets caught cheating on a College exam.....and the school suspended him for a year.....so what does he do ....he whins and *****s enough so that a court forces the NFL to let him in the draft.......to me this is just one more way of saying to the black youths...."hey just get big and fast and you can skip the learnig and go strait to the pros!"
i guess its much better to just make videos showing all your cars off and showing how many "*****es" you can get because your a rich "thugg"
this really pisses me off why is this culture in such a visious cycle?

as for the subject of black history month .....i dont see the point....there have been so many other culture that have had it really bad .....we dont have enough months to fit the bill....

if you want to learn your history....go read up on Latin america and its backround.......the spanish invaded and either forced the people of latine america to be slaves or killed them.....there were also Black slaves brought over from Africa...also Indian slaves from Inda.......read up on your history read about the Aztecs and the Incas .......they are gone now........we dont have a month for them.
                            my 2 cents
                            TT
