i looked at few with my girl the other day and she said she liked this kind (below) either princess cut or round... i was just wondering if there is any good sites where i could look at some?
it sux cuz i'm still in school and can't really afford a $7k ring...

It's tough droping that kind of cash on a ring. That's the amount my wife carries around on her finger. Surprises are nice but when your talking about a ring like that make sure she likes it as well. Good luck with it.

is it better to get the stone and the ring separately?
i can get a ring (platinum) for under $1k and a nice 1ct stone for like 2.5k.... which would be half of the premade one (the stones are almost the same)

you are usually better off getting the diamond and setting separately...

jewelry, in specific diamonds, are probably the highest markup of any retail item... couple of my friends get them internationally, they say the quality is good, who knows (much, much cheaper though)

you can always buy something you can afford now and upgrade later....

just make sure you are ready to pop the question, that is the important thing...

here is where we got our ring... its a wholesaler so you get a killer deal, only thing is i think you have to go to the store in person. Look on the site and see if there is one near you. the good thing about this place is they make all their settings and such so its way cheap... our diamond was a 1k princess which we talked him down to around 2800 from 3200. and the platinum band was only around 200

we got the stone and setting seperate. that way you can pick out the best quality diamond you can find/afford.... If you buy a preset one, you really have no controll over the diamond.

Maybe its just me, but I can't understand why a woman needs a 7,000.00 dollar ring for anyway....to make her friends jealous??...I just don't get it.....I say, go smaller.....upgrade through the years, then it means more. But then again I have never been materialistic.....or into "large" pieces of jewelry.
