There are too many people out there who would be easily manipulated by greedy friends, significant others or family members to make some extra cash.
Well... we could work out a little "by the hour" pricing for you Sachet! You get special pricing too!

I understand about how people could be taken advantage of, especially people down on their luck. But what if it saves a life? The guy is out a kidney (or whatever), but he's got a couple of grand in his pocket and can live a pretty normal life with only 1 kidney.

I think Greg Ostertag (NBA Center) just donated his kidney to his sister and he is still playing....

I think the thing about making the selling of organs legal is about those who cannot afford to pay... If everyone was able to sell their kidney then wouldnt those who couldnt afford one and waiting on the list be screwed? Are you guys also talking about those people who die... Like if my wife dies can i sell her organs. If this is the case then the poor would really be screwed.

Well... if I had my way, the government would set a price and that's what you have to pay. Donateing an organ would still be legal if they people choose to do so. And your medical insurance would cover the cost. If you don't have insurance and can't afford to buy the kidney, you probably couldn't have afforded to pay for the operation anyway...THAT'S the expesive part. You'd be in there for a month or so and it would probably average out to over a grand a day in charges.

Wellll, I noticed everything's 50% off in the mall... :p

Absolutely.. I agree that there's definately a desperate need for more organs.
The last I heard, there was a scare as to who was responsible to cover the fees & it fell on the donor's family.
Perhaps more people would be willing to sign their donor card if they were educated to whose family would be responsible to cover the costs..

I dunno.. it's something to check anyway.

I was just reading some inf on this in Nat'l Geographic, These women in India did it, they received only a fraction of what they were promised, then they were outcasted by their husbands.

                  It is legal to donate.

Sticky situation. If you legalize it then those willing would have safer cleaner conditions.

However then you would also have people killing others to steal their insides.

So I think it should remain illegal.

                        *eyes shift left, then right*

One day The Lord came to Adam to pass on some news. 'I've got some good news and some bad news', The Lord said.
Adam looked at The Lord and said,

'Well, give me the good news first.'

Smiling, The Lord explained, 'I've got two new organs for you, One is called a brain. It will allow you to be very intelligent create new things, and have intelligent conversations with Eve. The other organ I have for you is called a penis. It will allow you to reproduce your now intelligent life form and populate this planet. Eve will be very happy that you now have this organ to give her children.'

Adam, very excited, exclaimed, 'These are great gifts you have given to me. What could possibly be bad news after such great tidings?'

The Lord looked upon Adam and said with great sorrow, 'The bad news is that when I created you, I only gave you enough blood to operate one of these organs at a time.'
