Newgirl summed it up perfectly, and sadly... I'm a perfect example of what she's saying not to do.. Makes me think a lot.

        NewGirl:
Very well said! I agree, we have to watch our addictive personalities.

Behind that composed exterior, I know your hurting inside. I can almost smell the salt from your tears...Like I can almost picture your smeared mascara and puffy red eyes. It's OK to cry babe... it's not a show of weakness but rather of compassion. I shed a couple of tears myself today...this big boy does cry on occasion.

Your compassion is only equaled in strength by geared's sence kindness. And for that, you will always have a special place in my heart.
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

We all strive to get bigger, leaner, harder, better. We do it for strength, we do it for vanity, we do it for careers....but what we do is no different. We are feeding the addiction each and every day.

Usually those addicted to one thing are cross addicted elsewhere. And one transfers an addictive behavior to yet another when they move on from one. Let this be a wake up call to ALL of us involved in fitness and the lifestyle we are here to discuss. Gearedup and BigJim were two of THE classiest of board guys. They were generous with their time and their spirit and their knowledge. Their efforts were tireless...but somewhere they were feeling a void -- and out of filling that hole an addiction arises.....it is no different than the game we all play.

Let us all think about what we do and how to be safe and wise doing it. Don't push the edge of the envelope. Be safe and be smart. While the media projects the image that aas is deadly -- and while we all know how to be safe -- we cannot kid ourselves that what we do is all that healthy -- it is not. Know when to say "when".

Be safe my boys...all of you. Take care of your bodies but also your souls. Learn to achieve inner peace from the inside out -- not only from achieving the body that you desire -- but from the soul within.
You have a way with words.... GREAT POST

Wow. This is such an eye-opener.

Newgirl, I think that what you said is SO true and valid!

              Stay safe everyone.
              RIP GearedUp.

I started this whole thing over at Fitnessboard...as did a lot of you and Geared helped me out when a lot of other people would just flame away...

What a sad twist this puts on the holiday when we're all supposed to be celebrating family and health....

Most sincere condolences from me and all of the family over at beyondmass.....rest in peace, brother
