thanks cipher, a prayer is a prayer. i think God answers prayers from most monotheistic religions but dosnt favor just one. Buddah was not a christian but Jesus would have made a good Buddist. they are all similar and were tweaked by the cultures they began in like evolution. but they all started the same place.

I just hope that people don't get pissed at ciph or any of the other Christians posting in this thread. We were friends before this thread and I hope to be friends after this thread. Differences of opinions and beliefs are allowed. I'll continue to think that I'm right and you are more than welcome to continue to think that you are right Just sharing what I believe and there's nothing wrong with that.

true words estan. we all have rights to our opinions and we as a community should have respect for one anothers religious beliefs whether we agree or even dislike them. faith is a very important part of many peoples lives and it should not be belittled.

A belief is not a right or wrong it is a CHOICE.
A person's choice should NOT affect the way you view that person. It is easy to say knowone does that until you tell them you don't believe in thier GOD. For some reason when you tell a Christian that, they suddenly feel sorry for you and try to convince you GOD is real.

I am not trying to belittle anyone nor am I trying to push my beliefs on anyone. I am just staing my opinion in an otherwise intellectual conversation.

I am very proud of everyone in the post for the most part... We should all be able to share what we believe and agree and agree to disagree. We are adults here and need to act that way. I am glad to see we can talk about this and no one get mad or upset and flame or bash anyone!

i wasnt singleing you out bro i was stating a general thought. it is in the bible to go out and witness. thats why they do it. an analogy would be if you thought steroids were bad for you and you had a friend that started doing them would you let them do it without trying to speak to them about your perceived danger of the gear? they have a very strong faith that compels them to try spread their belief or witness if you will. most people i speak to who try to talk to me about their religion if i dont wanna talk i just excuse myself or explain i am not interested and its over. this has actually been a rather civil conversation as apposed to some i have read on other boards. your opinion should be just as respected as anybody else. just because someone dosnt like what you, cipher or I say does not make it wrong.

I agree 110%. I love the fact that we can discuss this without flaming or anyone getting pissed. Maybe thats why this board has survived while many others have come and gone!

I know you weren't singling me out and didn't mean it to sound like you were. I understand what you are saying about preaching the word of the LORD. But on the flip side, why do they find it necessary to inform of ONLY their religion like no other exists? I understand it is the religion they chose but what makes them feel it is the appropriate belief for me? There are many many other religions.

I have always wondered about the FIRST of the TEN commandments. If GOD is wonderful and understanding why is the first command "Thou shall not hold any other GOD before me"!???

IMO this is the majority of the christians view point. "Just in Case Christians". The fear of hell keeps them following the message even though logic points away from it.

It's amazing that the one thing in common most religions share, is they control their followers with fear and guilt (punishment) if disobeyed and the promise of pleasure if obeyed.

Christianity encompasses alot of faiths or like faiths. Im a non denominational. Baptists, Evangelists, Some Catholics, and some Catholic like faiths are all encompassed into Christianity. The bibles for the most part are all the same. As far as other religions, they in my opinion are Idol worshipers. The true and Living God is not a Idol. Even if you watch National Geographic or the Discovery channel. They can tell you Jesus was real, where Jesus was buried etc etc.....

Sugarbaby, Science has proved how the world was created. In fact recently they watched another planet's creation.

As far as my beliefs, I tend to believe in myself. Only I have the power to change the things in my life. I think praying for change is pointless. I know Christians will argue this point and that is opinion.

God Smacked - science hasn't proven how the world was created - they have a THEORY - the BIG BANG theory. Which has its holes.

Believing in yourself is good - but some people seek ultimate truths which they will often find in religion. Truths for quesions that they cannot answer themselves. That is why they resort to praying and reading about other religions.
