I grew up on Rap. I’m talking about the originators like The Cold Crush Brothers, Mercedes Ladies, Crash Crew, Spoonie Gee, Afrika Bambaataa (even though Bambaataa was considered to be funk, not rap), etc., etc., etc.

Unfortunately, rap is dead to me now. The old school party music, the social conscience of artists like Grandmaster Flash, the rip it up DJ mixes, it’s all gone.

The new school gangsta rap and the melodic West Coast style just aren’t rap to me.

It definitely makes me sad that the music that I grew up with is dead. It makes me feel old, too.

Very true, I like rap music but that shit is annoying when people drive with their radio so loud. They think their cool with the radio on high, wow your real cool doing that. Its annoying as hell and I see that everyday at school when I need to park and thats cause I get to school at 7:30am, so thats pretty bad.
